William Kane: Knowledge of the transmitter and possibly your location may well be imperative here. Asking for help on the basis that you are receiving from "some" transmitter is either not going to get any response, or some guesses may have to be made as to the blanks you've left.
The problem you describe can happen when a receiver runs out of memory because it has found more channels than it can remember. This is usually as a result of it picking up signals from additional/other transmitters and the desired transmitter being picked up last.
In the North East there are four full-service transmitters (those that carry the Commercial channels which include Dave and Sky News).
Pontop Pike uses high channels which are therefore found near to the end of the scan. Dave and Sky News are carried on Pontop Pike's highest channel which makes me wonder if you are receiving from it. If you are and this is the problem then just run the automatic tuning scan with the aerial unplugged for about the first 50% to miss out scanning of the channels used by other transmitter(s) (that you probably don't use anyway). This should leave you with memory to store COM5 which carries Sky News and Dave.

Neil Robertson: The frequency planners use the frequencies that are available. There are some areas that can receive the "right" region from the local PSB-only relay and the COM channels from a transmitter of another region, but who cannot combine the two due to the channels used not allowing so.
Largs has its own relay on top of the Academy which is Group B, so can you receive from it you could diplex it with Divis. Or is there another transmitter that you could pick-up from?
The other alternative is to have two tuners. Make the "main" one (e.g. that in your TV) tuned to Divis for PSB and COM channels. Then switch to the secondary (set-top box) for regional programming.
I don't know how much of an issue receiving channels from different regions will be with regards the EPG data and recording. I know that a few regions broadcast EPG data for neighbouring regions for this reason, but this isn't something that reciprocates between Black Hill and Divis regions (that I know of). If it does prove to be an issue, then you may have to resort to using Divis except where there is regional programming only available from your local transmitter.

Declan McGrath: The question is "When you have poor reception, which transmitter is it tuned to?"
If the answer is that it has retuned itself to another transmitter (Winter Hill maybe), then that needs addressing.
If the answer is that it is still tuned to Llanddona, then interference from the North West is not the issue. The most likely reason would appear to be that the signal level is too high and overwhelming the tuner.

Jason Smith: Channel 41 is the signal from Torquay Town transmitter and so you are not receiving from Beacon Hill (directly at least)!!
Torquay Town uses channels 41, 44 and 47.
Run the automatic tuning scan with the aerial unplugged for the first 50% of the scan. This will prevent your receiver from tuning in Torquay Town. It will miss out the three Commercial channels from Beacon Hill which you will need to add manually and these are 42, 45 and 51.

If you are receiving from Divis or possibly Limavady, then they are expected to be back on by 6am.

John: Never.
The Digital UK Postcode Checker predicts excellent reception at your location of all channels (full service) from Limavady. Unless you are unable to receive from it, perhaps due to a local obstruction, then get an aerial installed for it.

John Cook: Switch your aerial to vertical polarisation.
The Commercial multiplexes including the one that carries Dave are at lower power of 50kW horizontally. All six multiplexes are at 200kW vertically.
