BBC4HD no signal and BBC News HD gone.
All other stations on the BBC4HD mux remain available.
What is going on?
This has been going on for four or more years.
No changes to equipment.
Yet another Tacolneston unreported transmitter fault.

Will look for ch56 later, also BBCNewsHD which lots of people have lost.
DigitalUK had a note of engineering work at Tacolneston with service interruptions yesterday.

Last two posts because site was giving an error and/or doing nothing. Needs a total rewrite of the comments.
I note BBC4HD is still showing above as Ch107 or whatever it was.

Another site says re Tacolneston;-

The multiplex carrying BBC Four HD, CBeebies HD, FreeSports, PBS America and Forces TV among other channels (multiplex COM8) is changing frequency- from UHF channel 37 to the new national frequency on UHF 56. It has reduced coverage and is only available on newer Freeview devices.

If I am right, BBC4HD switches from com7 to com8 which is reduced power therefore reduced coverage.

Nothing explains the loss of BBCNewsHD

Well the retune was interesting.

BBC4HD came back but dropped out. It then reappeared on the original channel so the new one was deleted.

BBCNewsHD disappeared completely. It then popped up in the All Channels list but could not be added to Favourites as it was. Neither could it be watched. I added the SD channel to Favourites. Clicking on the SD channel then gave the original HD option (107)! It works, too.

I'm tech savvy, more so than people running this site it seems, but what about the hundreds of thousands of people who aren't?

Freeview is a crock. Badly implemented, pathetically managed and being downgraded like Sky satellite in the barking mad view that internet streaming is the future.

Earlier this week the following stations were dead:-
Ch4+1, 109, COM7
BBC4HD, 106, COM8
More4, 14, PSB2

The first two were expected following the power reduction and tropospheric conditions may not have helped. Why on earth a main BBC HD channel is on the lowest ERP is beyond belief.

More4 is intriguing because all other stations on that mux were fine.

Hardy and Stevens,

COM7 & 8

This is news to me. I only ever saw both being broadcast at 24Kw never18! My sources were this page and a more reliable and up to date one. Had I see 18 I would immediately have complained to my MP.

Stevens, you say the new mix is able to broadcast at a much lower power level - you mean is restricted to a much lower power level not able. It is transmitted power that matters.

It is unbelievable that a main HD channel is transmitted at such low power. No wonder people are annoyed.
