whenever i have to re tune to get Hannington... I have to unplug the aerial from the free-view box and let it scan up to 30 or 40% then plug aerial back in... get the stations i want. I have noticed the newer boxes have regional preface, which makes life allot easier. I just wish set makers thought of this in the 1st place.... would make things simpler for non technical people who haven't got a clue how to tune a box or TV set.

I Have noticed the new DAB radios are now wearing DAB+ logo. does that mean its future proof and will UK broadcast DAB+.. will it be better? who knows i asked a guy in curry's about DAB+ he was clueless as i am..... typical school kid pretending to know everything and anything... but he was stumped by my question.... i politely walked out of the shop!

I be honest... i don't really like the idea TV to be internet based service.... if this happens we will be spied on and what programmes we watch and how often we watch TV also how much we pay a month on TV.... no thanks

stick to the tradition way of TV via terrestrial Transmitters.

BBC three week: the technical challenge
Saturday 7 March 2015 8:28AM

If this Internet based TV goes ahead.. the government will sell all UK transmitter stations for the highest bidder... we public will suffer from poor quality TV pictures and sound... its going to be so compressed like a vice tightened up so hard..... its going to be awful

So what happens to Viewers that's on Channel group C/D moving it to B or A will cause alot of problems and CO-Channel interference between transmitters.... why the Government leave things alone... all they are interested in making money of selling public assets.....

New Freeview logo for a connected future.

New HD Recorders and new TVs brought today have automatic tuning so when you put TV on or box on.... (must be left on Standby!!) its already done that is good for non technical viewers, But surely why did not the manufacturers did this earlier when free-view went 2k to 8k mode.

In the days of analogue TV the TV sets then had Auto tune using teletext lines to put all stations in order including SKY and VCR, Makes me wonder if something missing in between switching over from Analogue to Digital... My Elderly neighbor brought a Bush 24" TV from Argos.... guess what no auto re tune...... which is a pain... i don't mind doing it for him as i will not charge him for it. So we do need to change the mind set of the TV makers that not everyone can understand the user guide... its never that simple.

Moores Law: Infographic

Technology has moved so fast now-days. I find it incredible that PC's Laptops now can be upgraded to 32GB of ram... but sell them with 8gb of ram... i cannot see how you would need more than 8gb. I have seen hard drives started from 40mb to 8TB as i have worked in PC field for over 20 years. I do remember when 286 pcs came out then rapidly went to 486+ then it slowed right down for a good 3 years. then P4 came out then it went all the way to icore 3 to 7 as well as AMD. so some point they cannot go any faster. we have it all now so people should be happy with what they got. Smart TV's with media players are very nice idea.. what IF the software for it become obsolete. will it stop working all together? will people have to dump that TV as the smart function no longer works and forced to upgrade? Surely the set makers would have thought a "future proof" extension board bit like a PCMIA card. I just see we cannot forever dump electronic/electrical items forever as it ends up in very poor 3rd world countries where people rip parts out for money just to live.

I like to point out that on Ebay if you choose an aerial to fit yourself there are a good range of aerials. I would choose the best make like triax, Labgear, Blake, as they do always work if fitted correctly the prices do vary and postage some are free some are not. I always say to people get what you can afford and use double screened cable preferably TX100 which replaced CT100 as the copper core is 100% copper Ok it does cost abit more than the RG6 cable which is mixed metals in the copper core.. which can cause signal loss.
and use double screened mast head amp boxes and a good quality booster if you going to use your areial to x amount of TV's it is best to use booster that has F connectors as its a good earth bond on it than UHF connec tor. I hope my info is helpful
