Sharon collins: Is your TV plugged into a freeview box, or is there one built in?

If its plugged into a freeview box in one room, and the same in another, then the scart connection/cable might be playing up - all the pins have to connect properly, and if they dont, you can then get everyone being green on the screen or loss of sound.

If its not, then thats weird! If the TV works fine plugged into a normal TV aerial in one room, but not another, it doesn't make sense. If the signal was bad in one room, then it would be just the sound, it would be whole channels being a bit dodgy.

Sharon collins: You should try carrying out a "manufacturers reset" on the TV, as what you have reported could possibly be due to a glitch having occurred in the TV's processing circuitry.

By the way, "manufacturers reset" is also known as "default setting" / "first time installation" etc.

Despite several complete retunes on all TVs and Set Top Boxes in my house I cannot see Ch45 (Film4 + 1). I also understood that there was a MoviesForMen +1 chnnel but similarly can't see it. Can someone give a reason for this? My Post Code is NN12 7TN and I have no other problems with the Sandy Heath transmitter.

GeordieLad: Film4+1 is now carried on PSB3 multiplex, which requires a Freeview HD receiver, as it uses a DVB-T2 signal.

A full list of Freeview services is available here:

Digital UK Industry - Channel listings

Movies4Men+1 is available only in the Manchester and some surrounding areas, via the G_MAN multiplex which broadcasts only from Winter Hill in the direction of Manchester.

I had everything set up and working but now the DVD/VCR Combi refuses to Play.
When I record something on AV2 or try and play a DVD or Video Cassette it plays but no signal passes through to the telly.
The telly has three sources: TV, HDMI and Ext.
I am assuming the DVD/VCR Combi is supposed to pass the signal to Ext but nothing displays.

Help Please! I have this configuration:

VCR Freeview Philips HDTP 8530 with:
One HDMI
One SCART

LED TV Samsung UE48H5510 with:
SCART EXT1
3 HDMI Ports
Optical Cable to Sound Bar

DVD/Video Recorder Panasonic DMR-EZ47VEB:
HDMI AV OUT
Optical OUT
Audi Out
Video Out
S-VIDEO OUT
AV1 SCART (TV)
AV2 SCART (Ext)

Soundbar including separate subwoofer with:
Optical Cable to TV

Currently Connected Up as:
HDMI from TV to Freeview Box
SCART from TV (EXT RGB) to DVD Recorder Combi AV1 IN.
SCART from DVD Recorder Combi AV2 EXT Out to Freeview SCART
Aerial goes into Freeview box. Fly lead to DVD Recorder Combi and another from there to TV.

John S: First question to ask is WHY ARE YOU STILL USING SCARTS!

Sorry, but I'm shouting for effect. Last November, I said the same thing, and I suspect your problem is because you are using scarts, with odd settings. I think that you've set up the scarts so the scarts on both TV and VCR are inputs, hence nowt coming out!

OK - aerial lead is kind of fine. Its a bit of a long chain, but it seems to work. Please call your PVR a PVR, a Philips, etc - calling it a Freeview box confuses the life out of everyone, including me!

HDMI from Philips to TV, using whatever HDMI's work, but HDMI is best. With the two HDMI ports that are left, connect one to the Panasonic. You should automatically get the Samsung's internal tuner when the TV is switched on, unless the PVR or Panasonic is switched on. You should then be able to switch between HDMI's via the source button.

Thats it. Remove the scart leads, put them in a box, seal it, and leave them alone. Do not touch them again. You dont need them. As Edna 'E' Mode almost said in 'The Incrediables', 'No Scarts!'

Hello
My hd freeview started messing up blocky picture etc it as a signal strength of 100 per cent and a signal quality of only 1 per cent.
I've changed the co axial connection (same result) ive tried a 20bb varialble attenuator (got the strength lower but no change on signal quality and also tried a 6db and 12db supressor.
I've done a reset on the tv (lg32ld490) no change.

Any advice would be apprectiated.

The transmitter mast is Emley Moor
