Freeview reception at BN43 6TH

For reliable and stable Freeview reception, you need an unobstructed path between the TV aerial on your roof and the digital TV transmitter. The map below shows the transmitters predicted to provide a signal at this location.

You can click on any transmitter symbol to show the coverage area as a green overlay on the map. Double click on a transmitter symbol to go to the transmitter information page.

You can also view the ten closest potential '4G-at-800' mobile phone masts within 1.5km of the selected location - these masts may be used for 4G-at-800 mobile broadband services from 2013-2015.

Steveeboy: There are two properties that are important in a TV aerial: directivity and polarisation.

The DM Log aerial (Blake DML26WB) is good for touring:

TV Aerials for Boats and Caravans

It is wideband, and so is suitable for reception from any transmitter.

Those who have their aerials horizontal when signals are vertically polarised have not got them set for best reception.

Hi Brian, I receive Freeview TV from Whitehawk Hill, we have just been given at800 filter today (10/5/13). New 4G mobile services are coming to our area soon. I'm concerned that if this filter doesn't work we will have to switch to SKY or Virgin. We would switch to BT TV as we are with them already, but have been told BT TV will be effected too. Having to pay multiroom Sky & Virgin is a cost we could do without, but it seems this the only way we can watch Freeview TV with good signal. I would be interested in reading your thoughts about the above & wonder if you know if Whitehawk Hill will be effected by 4G and what options are there for us if this the case. I'm hearing conflicting thoughts whether BT TV will be effected by 4G or not. Totally confused now. I'm also hearing these filters we have been given may not work?? Thank you for your time with this post.

Clare McNeil: As per at800's website - if the filter doesn't work you would be provided with other means of watching TV (freesat).

If you are worried about whether it will affect you, then you should just wait and see what happens in mid-May. If you do get interference, then connect the filter as directed, and if that doesn't work then get in touch with at800. If it works or you don't get any interference in the first place, then happy days!

Lots of ifs :).

Clare McNeil: For some reason half of my post was cut off!

I would suggest you just wait and see what happens around mid-May with regards interference, that way you can see if the filter makes any difference and if not, then get in touch with at800.

Clare McNeil: I really wouldn't be so concerned. Surely there are more important things that "might" happen to worry about, such as if one still has a job in six months time.

If there is interference from 4G services at 800MHz then worrying about it will make no difference.

Hi Michael and Dave.

Thank you for your replies, hadn't thought of Freesat. Its a case of watch this space I guess. Maybe I should have explained why I am so worried about this. I have Asperger's Syndrome which is form of Autism, thus because of it I struggle with change & the unknown in life. eg in this case there are a lot of what will happen or not happen. I know it sounds stupid and it is difficult for me to explain Asperger's. I do worry about work, hence my money concerns.
Thank you for your help.

Clare McNeil: My point was one of getting things into perspective from the point of view of the likelihood of each happening, the likely detrimental effect and the ease of enacting a solution.

I imagine that in most cases where interference is an issue that a filter will cure it. Only in extreme circumstances will a filter not rectify the issue, this being where the interfering signal is so strong.

Filters have been sent out to addresses where interference "may" be an issue. Understandably, this may provoke concern among recipients, but at the end of the day the other alternative would have been not to send them out automatically, leaving those who are affected (having turned on the 4G masts) to ring up and request a filter.

As I guess it will say in what you have received, the organisation that is carrying out the test is "at800". They say that if, during the test, viewers experience interference that they should ring them. An engineer will visit to find out what the issue is:

at800 Brighton 4G test
