Thanks for that information. At the last retune (July I think) COM8 was off for several days due to a transmitter problem so I don't have the 100% confidence in it that I might have! Also when something has worked for months (up until last week) it's hard to dispel the idea of a fault outside my property.

However I will try a few more things with my aerial as you suggest, otherwise I feel Freesat coming on!

Thanks anyway

I live at NP4 8AA with a tv ariel in the loft. However while my free view box can pick up 174 channels and list them on my tv, they all state no information and there is no picture. I have managed to get it working temporarily but wondered what exact direction I should point my ariel towards to get the best picture? Grateful for any advice.

Kris Venn: Mendip on a compass bearing of 152 degrees is predicted to be the best at your location. Nothing else is predicted to give good reception.

I've notice that nothing is happening when I enter a
postcode in the Predict option box - screen just defaults back to the Predict blank option. Is there issues today with site.

Mark Cairns:

Something did happen - at the bottom of your post are several small blue boxes as a result of your entering your full post code. Click on any of the boxes to see the details provided. The 'digitaluk trade' box shows that you should be getting excellent reception from Southway and Caradon Hill. Southway is a 'light' transmitter so only carried three multiplexes. Caradon Hill is a full service transmitter so carried all eight multiplexes. The relevant channels used are also shown.

If you wish to have a more immediate display of information use the Digital UK Coverage Checker at Digital UK - Coverage checker and enter your full post code and house number.

At present I'm in Cumbria and moving to Liverpool. I notice that PBS America (chn 94) is not on Freeview in the Liverpool area. Why is that?

Roderick Barker: Most of Liverpool should be able to receive PBS America on the COM8 multiplex with an aerial pointed at the Winter Hill transmitter. It isn't broadcast from the Storeton transmitter. If you provide a full postcode we can see what the predicted coverage is at your new location.

I tried to use 'My Freeview' to check reception at the campsite in Charmouth where I will be holidaying next week. I tried DT6 6QS (with or without the space) - I got the reception conditions for the default latitude & Longitude of Crystal Palace. I tried the map reference of the campsite SY935367, all I got was - Crystal Palace again ! In desparation I tried one of the sample postcodes, I got the reception map for that area - with all the channel allocations for (yes, you've guessed it) Crystal Palace !!
There's a serious bug in the data entry field of 'my freeview' , unless you live at Crystal Palace that is. Please can you sort it ?

MikeP Channel 56 is now alive and well again here at IP17. I did replace the aerial cable to eliminate a join halfway, using the latest and greatest all copper cable, but making no other changes, and the signal was good without those alterations. Back to 80% signal and 50-100% quality. Earlier loss is unexplained so far I am concerned.

But thanks for your help and encouragement.
