Freeview reception at BN23 8AL

For reliable and stable Freeview reception, you need an unobstructed path between the TV aerial on your roof and the digital TV transmitter. The map below shows the transmitters predicted to provide a signal at this location.

You can click on any transmitter symbol to show the coverage area as a green overlay on the map. Double click on a transmitter symbol to go to the transmitter information page.

You can also view the ten closest potential '4G-at-800' mobile phone masts within 1.5km of the selected location - these masts may be used for 4G-at-800 mobile broadband services from 2013-2015.

700MHz clearance is the project of rolling retunes to better arrange the Freeview transmission frequencies, so they can be used in 2020 for 5G mobile data. It was blogged about here, but not integrated into the site's many features.

Having spent a whole day gathering the change information for 300 transmitters and placing them in a database table, I was able to re-code four of the UK free TV features to use them. These are the technical prediction system https://ukfree.tv/prediction where all change dates are showing...

See Updates for 700MHz Freeview retunes, fixed all channels, new icons, radio fixes | free and easy for details.

Thanks for the updates (and the 23 emails ;-)

The TV mapping view doesn't seem to be working for Stadhampton (51.6885N -1.134E) in the latest Firefox on W10. There's no green area shown initially, and if you try to click on the bouncing Oxford icon, it doesn't work. It does if you click on the static Hannington transmitter. Clicking on the static Oxford then still doesn't work.

Same here. Using Firefox at SN5 4ET, I just get mobile phone masts and nothing happens when clicking on 'Freeview Coverage' at top left of map.

And in the 'Predicted Freeview channel list' my only 'predicted' transmitter is given as Seagry Court which is a light transmitter which has never been any use to me.

Rex Bartlett: Seagry Court became a full 6 mux transmitter and received an increase in power level earlier this year and looks like the best option for reliable reception at your postcode.

Rex Bartlett:

Further to that saod by StwvwnsOnln1, Seagry Court is by far the best transmitter for you to use at your location. Both Oxford and Mendip give poor and unreliable reception in your part of Swindon. If you go to the Digital UK Covergare Checker for your locations, see Coverage Checker - Detailed View and scroll down to the Seagry Court entry it will show all 6 multiplexes should be available with good and reliable reception. It will also show you the channels used for the transmissions to help you tune your TV manually.

Well I thought the issue was resolved but back to square one. To recap certain channels come up 'no signal' and then some time later same channels are ok i.e. all available channels are ok none missing. so I am at a loss as what's going on. How can they be ok one minute and then gone the next?

Have you thoroughly checked all your aerial cables and connections? Have you unplugged the coaxial plugs/sockets and refitted them? Is there a 4G mast in the vicinity? Please provide a full post code so that we can look at the predicted reception conditions at your location.

Have checked all cable connectors etc, but what I can't understand is not touching anything all channels are ok so you think great problem solved, but then some channels just appear no signal & then again leave it i.e. do nothing and the channels that were ' no signaling' are back ok! Not sure about a 4g mast but the amp dist I have has a 4g filter. My postcode is GU22 8EY.

NasS:

According to the Digital UK Coverage Checker you should be getting a good reliable signal from the Crystal Palace transmitter, see Coverage Checker - Detailed View The signal from the Guildford transmitter is shown as very unreliable. So please ensure you are tuned to the signal from Crystal Palace. Your aerial should be aimed at a bearing of 68 degrees and be a wideband type. The channels to be tuned to are: 23, 26, 30, 25, 22, 28, 55 and 56. Also check the signal strengths of all the multiplexes you are receiving, they should ideally be between 60% and 85%, if they are less than 60% then you need a higher gain aerial, if they are more than 85% then you need to fit some attenuation as it is too strong. Both of these situations can cause the problems you report.

I have been given a tv from a friend, the aerial that goes from my roof to my bedroom works fine with my old tv, but it was too small, now I have used same aerial in the tv from a friend and it can't find any channels at all?
