Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Darvel (East Ayrshire, Scotland) mast?

UK Free TV shows the coverage area for a radio transmitter as a coloured overlay (orange for FM, other colours for DAB) on the grey map. We have computed the coverage by combining the terrain with the official radiation pattern. A single click will select the transmitter to view the coverage for a single site, and a double click goes to a page showing full details. Click on the buttons in the right-hand corner of the map to choose from different frequencies (or multiplexes for DAB).

Linda Todd:

There are no currently reported problem with the Darvel transmitter.

Please supply a full post code so that we contributors can check the transmission and reception condition at your precise location, a partial post code is not sufficient as it can vary along a road.

Victoria Grugan: The obvious answer is that you quite likely have a fault with your aerial system somewhere such as a loose connection or damaged cable etc, so start by checking all the cables and connections behind your TV. What signal strength and quality readings do you have on the channels that are breaking up? Please provide a full postcode so that we can see which transmitter you're using, where you are in relation to it and your predicted signal strength etc.

Sarah durham: Retuning was a bad idea as all you are doing is deleting all of your channels and searching for them again when they are already tuned. Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV? Please provide a full postcode so that we can see where you are in relation to the transmitter and your predicted coverage etc.

Hi, I am served by darvel transmitter and since the retune I have had problems with my freeview reception, anything above channel 11 is either blocky or unwatchable, I have 2 tv's through a booster and 1 is ok, the other is the one having problems, it is hooked up via a Humax box so I can record and I have tried retuning it without success. Aerial is in the loft and the quality is 100% and strenth is 50%. can anybody help?

Andy: Chances are you have a Group A aerial which is not designed to cover all of the frequencies now in use at Darvel. If you don't have satellite or cable you should be eligible to have a replacement wideband aerial fitted free of charge, which can be arranged by contacting the Freeview Advice Line (see link below).

Monday 15th April 2019. Radio 3 is just a crackling noise on all my radios at home and car (FM) but I don't see any scheduled maintainence in progress or any suggestion of a problem with the Darvel transmitter
