Map of all DAB transmitters

You can click on a transmitter group symbol to see all the masts in that county or area, or click on a single transmitter to see the coverage area. Due to the large number of radio transmitters, many have been grouped into counties or administrative areas for ease of viewing.

Who ever proposed the idea of Single Frequency Networks needs to get his head checked. I can receive the signal from the Idle Transmitter a few miles away on the outskirts of Bradford. The Town Centre of Bradford dips down (cities in the Pennines are between very big rolling hills) with many tall buildings around so the coverage is bad there. The proposed new transmitter in Bradford City Centre will solve reception problems in the centre of Town but could end up causing problems for me since it's only a mile away and the signal from Idle also gets to me. The whole DAB Transmission system needs to be redesigned if the Government wants DAB to take off!

I understand DAB will be coming to High Winds Somerset. Which area will it serve and when? I live in Bruton, South Somerset.

It would be useful if you could select say D1 National and your post code, and see a map or list of your transmitter locations.

Although I get great BBC National DAB from Benfleet, the LBC on D1 National is variable, but it is not clear which transmitters may have been selected, since there appear to be several possibilities.

I'd like to use this information to ask the manufacturer (Pure) if and when they check and recheck for best reception.

Thank You

Colin Knight: Hi.

I think you've misunderstood how DAB radio works.

The services provided on "single frequency networks": If you can get a signal from more than one DAB transmitter, these are combined in the receiver to improve reception.

The receiver has no way of knowing which mast provided the signal, as it is the same bit-stream on the same frequencies.

Brian: I have read on the website of Muxco that DAB will be coming to Somerset as well as North Wales and North Yorkshire by the end of this year - Full Steam Ahead | MuxCo.com - DAB Digital Radio Multiplexes
