The change over was last August and I had no problems, this last few months especialy in the evenings, the picture and sound has stuttered or frozen making tv unwatchable!
This is on all chanels and my neighbour has a simmilar problem. I am between Boston and Spalding, what could be the problem and what can be done about it?

Martyn: When your neighbour is also suffering from the same problem then it limits the possible causes to being due either to localised interference, or the much more likely reason of it being caused by the normal and seasonally related atmospheric condition changes that takes place in the evenings, as dependant on conditions this in some instances can actually result in the signal strength rising, whereas in other cases it falls off slightly whereby its sitting at a level not high enough above the reception threshold of your TV's tuner capabilities, something which always results in glitches.
Carry out a signal strength check on a particular channel when there isn't a problem making a note of the strength / quality seen indicated, then do the same on the same when the problem re-appears and compare the differences between the two readings.
The other possible atmospheric related cause is that of the "inversion" effect, as this causes channels from distant stations (sometimes continental) to be received on the same channels as Belmont's (or any other station) and which once again results in exactly the type of problem you are experiencing, although this latter effect is more associated with a particular channel rather than overall.
Needless to say, there really isn't anything that can be done about this problem, and its something that has been causing random problems to numerous people right across large parts of the bottom half of the UK, at least I haven't seen any complaints from North of the border, as yet anyway!

i'm in north bridlington and last night i got a message telling me i had to retune on the 9th may or i would lose channels signal is from belmont transmitter and as we are already switched over, i just wondered if i was maybe picking up a signal from another transmitter. it was only on my bedroom tv and not the main one in the lounge, any info ?

will snell: I quite certain that it doesn't apply for Belmont. There is a retune due for Sandy Heath viewers on 9th May, but you're firmly outside its area!
Have a look in the 800s for another transmitter's services. Unless it was transmitted by Belmont, which would be doubtful and the fact that only one TV gives this message suggests that it may not be.

@ Dave Lindsay, i have picked up signals before from the sandy heath transmitter, can't remember when it was. i do have a 90 element aerial up on roof ( i think it was 90)

That was around mid November 2011 when Belmont area had atmospherics/inversion effect and we exchanged texts as such,which you did mention about receiving Sandy Heath transmissions temporarily with an amplified signal (mast head amplifier) on your group W wideband aerial.It was the time when Tacolneston had just started DSO1 on Wednesday 9 November 2011,and also Belmont still then had the restricted 4kw on both ArqA and ArqB multiplexes until Tacolneston completed DSO2 on Wednesday 23 November 2011 when the ArqA and ArqB muxs from Belmont increased in power 25 times to 100kw apiece.
