Hi

I had terrible drop out last night on ITV.

Is was better when I used 804 (Central) instead of 3 (Calender)

Seems my auto tune is selecting Waltham & Belmont transmitters.

Psb1 =C22 (Belmont?) should be C49
Psb2 =C25 (Belmont?) Should be C54
Psb3 =C58 Hd not used.
Com4 =C29 Waltham
Com5 = C56 Waltham
Com6 = C57 Waltham

Would I be better off getting my Arial pointed at Sandy heath instead?

That way when I do auto re-tune it will be correct?

I have a Panasonic TX32lxd70 and my post code is pe3 8nr

Colin: I'm in PE1, and having a look down my street, there is a fair mix - many are Sandy Heath, fewer are Waltham (like mine), and a fair number have aerials pointing towards both.

Belmont is always a pain - its on a vaguely similar bearing to Waltham, and is on Ch22, so pops up first when using an auto scan from my basic freeview box. The really strange thing is that my Sony picks up all three transmitters - see what your signal strength is like - it might be topping out like my PVR does, and just killing a little of the signal strength might mean it misses Belmont completely.

You could try the David Lindsay method - remove the aerial for the first third of the scan, so Waltham never gets picked up, or try a manual tune.

As for moving the aerial - depends on how much of a faff it is - but your right - Sandy Heath is pretty much by itself, so is less hassle.

Update

Late afternoon Chanel 61 (True Entertainment) kept dropping out.

This is tuned to the correct transmitter Com4 =C29 Waltham

So it's not just a Belmont problem.

Over the last few days I have seem to have lost all BBC channels, I am tuned to Belmont transmitter and I am in Sheffield with post code S72BY. All other channels are fine although I do get some that break up now and again like Film4 and 5USA. Has anyone else lost BBC in the last 2 days, I am still waiting for it to come back.

Kevin Wright: I suggest that the ongoing engineering works might be the cause, and indeed anytime Belmont is on low power you could, potentially, not be able to receive it.

The Digital UK predictor doesn't think you will get reception from Belmont, except "poor" for the HD multiplex.

However, it predicts good coverage by the Sheffield Crosspool transmitter. I guess you might be using Belmont because Crosspool is out of the question.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for your response. Yes Crosspool is no good as I am in a bit of a valley in the shadow of 'Brincliffe Edge', so have never been able to get decent reception. I forgot to say that I have 4 tv's all coming off the same ariel but have discovered that one of them is still getting all channels fine (including BBC) with very little if any breakup. I guess the next stop is at my splitter boxes ?

according to the info on this site Stamford has its own local transmitter/repeater, were you checking this or the Belmont mpx ?
I have lost everything on all 3 tvs here after a electrical storm this afternoon.
I have checked with my neighbours: but they are all on satellite which is ok( as is mine).

Tried a portable tv but still no signal from freeview. I also note that there is a warning for Belmont on the map on this site saying there maybe interruptions.
doesanyone else have a problem ?

STEVE WILKINS: My particular location is covered by the Waltham transmitter, signals from the local Stamford transmitter being biased to cover the properties along the waterfront areas and not much further, however purely for signal checking purposes my Freeview equipment is loaded with Belmonts and Sandy's PSB muxes and stored in the 800 range and my reply was with reference to Belmonts PSB muxes on Ch's 22 - 25 - 28.

Rechecked before replying and they are still OK.
