Well bizarrely I think my issue is due to my coaxial cable/connector. Whilst removing the cable I found that bending the cable in a certain direction resulted in me regaining the signal quality for CH22. Which is abit strange as I dont think I've moved/touched the RF cable since fitting my new Freeview box a few weeks ago. :o)
Ron: I believe Michael was asking towards if you have a 'Freeview HD' set-top box or tuner in your tv? Although a tv description will say 'Full HD' or 'HD Ready' this does not mean you can receive the HD channels! Your tv tuner or freeview box needs to be 'Freeview HD'. The Currys website is a good example that shows if the tv tuner is a standard 'Freeview' or a 'Freeview HD'.

we have not had much tv for two weeks now. have tried manual retune but no signal on any channel. we have had our tv for three years and have never had this problem before. bbc has been very helpful and now has a message on their phone to say it is no ones fault but it is the high pressure. other people near have no problems. our aerial is in the loft. every channel went off 10pm sat and again last night having had tv for 3 hours.

We have 2 TVs one in the lounge and one in the kitchen both taking a signal from the same arial. Our trasmitter is Caradon Hill. The TV in the lounge is just about OK but the one in the kitchen is now just showing French channels when we retuned on Freeview. They are usually both just OK in normal weather but now we have high presure they are acting up. We never had this problem with analogue so what is happening please.

Alternatively, register for a French evening class at your local friendly FE college :-)
The difference between tv sets will be due to longer aerial cable losses and receiver parameters.

I just put up an 18 element aerial for Caradon Hill on our chimney, and it is getting a fantastic signal, signal quality 9 on all the muxs except PSB1 and PSB2. I am wondering whether this is most likely because the Westward Ho relay is on the same line as Caradon Hill from here - the quality on PSB1 and 2 is variable, from 5-8. I am aware that Westward Ho is vertical (a relay) but would it still be likely to cause a problem? I was thinking of having a small vertical aerial to receive Croyde (the local relay) for PSB1 and 2 so that would obviously solve the problem, but was only hoping for one aerial really. It is strange that they put masts on the same frequencies as ones which are fairly close together. (51.1401,-4.2562)

James, you do not indicate your location, but if elevated, you will indeed get the Caradon muxes which are not co-channel with others within range. So your idea of using the Croyde relay for the PSB muxes and Caradon for the COMs is wise. You might also receive the COMs from Huntshaw Cross - or even from Wales (Preseli, Carmel or Wenvoe), depending on your location and elevation. Depending on the the two frequency bands, you may be able to to use a combiner to feed signals from two aerials via one cable to the TV or freeview box antennate input socket.

our postcode is tr11 4eq and we are, in the last few days, frequently suffering poor signal quality and picture break-up.The signal strength is good. The high gain with masthead amplifier aerial is pointing to Caradon Hill 50 degrees. This is most unsatisfactory as we know the aerial is not the problem.HELP!!!

Same problem at TR11 5GG - quality varying wildly since Monday, though at this moment 10 on all muxes - but was sinking to 1 on chs 21, 22 and 27 earlier today. Normally excellent reception from Caradon Hill with amplified loft aerial. All equipment and connections seem OK. Glad to hear we're not alone! Could it be weather related - unusually high pressure earlier this week?

TR11 4QT - lost signal completely on one tv, other breaking up - getting worse over last few days, but thought we were pointing at Penryn for Freeview!

It's either revenge for Agincourt or Arqiva riggers using some of the power for their kettle while they tinker... If you can see two bars on the tuning or settings menu and the quality one fluctuateswhilst the signal strength one is fairly stable over 50%, then it is probably interference from near Agincourt wafting across Le Manche on the "High". . .
