they use telemetry to monitor I've known broadcast engineers forget to plug a portion of the array in which causes a massive SWR on the front end, shutting down that array module or simply mix up the array pattern profile and turn off a portion of the array, we could be sitting in a massive dead spot.

I am a fully qualified electronics engineer in both analogue and digital
I am also fully qualified in computing, cryptography and network security
I am also fully qualified in communications.

I am more than comfortable in all technical matters regarding communications,mux's,frequencies,propagation,dual path, multipath, refraction etc, however it's transmitted. I was initially trained in the Royal Corps of Signals in RF, satellite and long haul communications, in frequencies ranging from 1Mhz to many Ghz, using a bewildering array of different methods and antennae.

job as a broadcast engineer.

Now I'm not saying it's down for EVERYONE but it's down where I am and in the locality

and yes my neighbour and two others since are still complaining they've lost channel 48 com6
and I have tried again to re-tune their TV's last night and can confirm channel 48 is dead as a dodo on their
TV's

I've pushed the issue up to the Radio and Television investigation service as freeview and arqiva
were about as much use as a chocolate teapot.

(as you can see there is no 690Mhz if there was it would have been detected and scanned)

so considering I have full and strong signal on ALL of the other muxs/channels, what possible reason could there be for it NOT to detect channel 48 ? other than it's not getting to mine or my neighbours antennas ???

do we ALL have the same fault just on channel 48 on all our dissimilar TV's and equipment and we ALL developed
the exact same fault to stop us from receiving channel 48 directly after the work on the 17th July 2019 ?????

or shall we resort to Occams Razor ?

Oh and as an addendum

usually when scanning for DTV if you simply put in ONE working mux it will auto discover the rest through the NIT
(Network Information Table (NIT) hex (0x40, 0x41))

as you can see from my previous post of the low level mux scan the NIT is not reporting 690Mhz anywhere

I see you decided to go with the normal recourse of those who dont actually know what they are on about but cant bear to be wrong - spout your entire career history, walting it up a bit, plus endless dumps of pointless data.

So, first a whole mux is simply missing... and now the NIT, which goes out on EVERY mux on the whole region, isnt carrying the COM6 table...

...yet only YOU and your (now increasing...) number of neighbours are affected. Im not sure you really understand how the NIT works...

If you were a broadcasting engineer, with all that experience behind you, then you yourself would be applying Occams Razor to your problem - which is that YOUR cheap system is most likely to be at fault.

Im guessing, being a time served broadcast engineer, you will have analysed the incoming signals using a professional transport stream analyser?

Im rather loath to assist someone of your arrogance, but perhaps you might like to start by bringing your incoming signal level down to a mid level and ensure your not overloading the system to begin with.

Well I guess you'll know a way round that as you're making out you are more clever than Derek Brabrook who may be well qualified and experienced but is only human and can make mistakes or accidentally omit to mention something relevant. Do you have better qualifications? Are you actually receiving COM6 from Carmel, if so, what's you postcode as Chris.SE asked, as you could be in a different direction from Derek? Maybe you work for Arqiva and have been out to check for yourself - funny Derek's neighbour can't receive COM6 either!
As you're so well qualified, knowledgeable and experienced, perhaps you could make a more constructive and helpful post to help Derek find something he might have missed.

Following the Carmel re-tune on 17 July, on a log-periodic antenna
muxes on channels 23,26,29,33 and 36 are received on the North Devon coast,
but not the mux on the higher frequency of ch 48.

The Ilfracombe relay "shares" channels 33,36 and 48 with Carmel.
Ilfracombe HD is on ch 48, so HD co-channel might be a problem.
Or is Carmel Arqiva-B on a frequency other than the announced ch 48 (690MHz),
which is surprisingly much higher than the others ?

That's a very interesting bit of news about reception on the N.Devon coast. As far as C48 for ArqB is concerned that is correct see Coverage Checker - Detailed View
There a similar sort of situation at Mendip with SDN on C48 somewhat higher than the other muxes.

a human: ok then, a more "constructive" post -
1. Carmel might well be closer, but it is not the preferred station for the area, that would be Preseli, which the OP was originally tuned to. Go back to Preseli!

2. Regardless of what your distribution filter saws, arrange for the incoming signal strength from the aerial to be nno more than 80 to 85% anything highter will lead to overloading and corruption.

3. Check the aerial, cable, connectors for any signs of water ingress or damage - rain getting in can attenuate a ssingle mux yet leave the others fine.

4. Do away with the Johnson unit entirely! It's simply not needed and is only complicating the system
A normal active distribution amp is more than enough

5. Make sure the only amplification is just enough to over come the loss in the cables. Do not try to increase overall signal strength using an amp. If it's not strong enough, fit a better antenna

My mother lives in SA18, since midweek retune, C36 multiplex can only be found by manual scanning, even then reception is very poor often cannot be decoded. A friend a few miles away from her has same problem.
