I stay in Dalry, Ayrshire, have just bought a TRI-FOLD 43 Element HIGH-GAIN Digital TV Aerial, I have mounted it on the side of my house, approx 25ft up. Traced brand new coaxel cabel into my bedroom, When I scan for channels I get 80+, however I am missing STV(channel 3) channel four and channel 5???

BBC 1 and 2 are crystal clear pictures, E4 picture is pixelating, not even watchable to be honest.

Ive been googling it for days trying to find a reason and have just come across this site.

Anyone got any ideas/solutions??

thanks in advance.
Liam.

liam boyle: Careful repositioning/relocating of the aerial might provide an improvement to the reception of Mux2. However with switchover due to complete on 25th May 2011 you might prefer to wait and see before adjusting the aerial..The signal for Mux D3+4 will be five times stronger than that of the present Mux2.

Dalry

yip think thats what im going to do, I spoke to some woman from the digital switchover helpline and she said just wait until May 25 coz I will prob get all the channels, thing that I didnt understand was as I stated I bought this new aerial, £50 worth from Maplin, all singing all dancing and dont get all channels yet the guy staying in building next to me bought a £20 aerial from a large DIY retailer and put in in his loft, plugged it into a freeview box and get channel3, channel 4 and CH5 on freeview.

Seems strange to me??

Liam Boyle:
There used to be a good curry house in Dalry! That tri-fold aerial is wide-band and hence is not best suited for Darvel as its response is not so good at the lower end of the band. You should have been advised to buy a 16 or 18 element Group A aerial, which would likely yield 4-6dB more signal (6dB is four times as much!) It would have been cheaper, less obtrusive and less likely to come down in the first gale.
KMJ is right, the situation will probably improve after switchover.

liam boyle: It is quite possible you have too much signal, and should have used a smaller aerial. You may have to fit an attenuator.
