Small 18 yr old loft aerial installed by the housebuilders pointing towards Dover from Ashford. All but one TV retuned and picked up BBC A on ch.33. New signal may be weaker than prior to retune, probably because the aerial is not wideband, after googling how to identify wideband aerial. We've also had occasional problems with TV channels on ch.35 come to think of it.
I have another disused 'wide band' loft aerial which I aimed at new Ashford relay using compass bearings provided by digitaluk, and can confirm it is working with just BBC A channels with the TV that could no longer get same channels from Dover.

Bill you will get those channels that Dover has on Oct16 on the Ashford relay. same is happing on the Margate site also digital uk now call margate a main site. both those sites are SFN so all Frequency's are the same as Dover. BBC ch50 is still going out from Dover so that could be why signal is not as good as it should be on ch 33. as the signal bar shows 100% but the other bar go up to 100% but go's down to 69% so wont stay hight this on my tv in my room but the other tv stays hight all the time. the only thing i can think of is ch33 is not using 80,000W jest yet & ch50 still is.

No BBC 1 BBC 2 or BBC News or BBC Parliament yesterday pm (25th August) or now 08:07 26/08/2019.
Usually no problem with signal.
All other channels receiving as usual.
Your website indicates no engineering work but there seems to be a problem.
Yes, I have rebooted my TV (Yesterday) but problem persists.
I leave it your capable hands,
Michael Jukes.

Michael Jukes:
There are planned engineering works at the Dover transmitter, see http://www.digitaluk.co.u…rks. That means there could erll be various service interuptions, so DO NOT RETUNE.
This website has no connection with any broadcaster nor transmitter operator (mainly Arqiva) so we cannot do anything to abate the problem.

MikeP I looking on that site all sites listed are relays with blue bell hill. but that Dover listed is one of its relays not Dover its self. Michael Jukes your Transmitter mite not be Dover but a other one.

Ypu wpuld do better to use Digital UK - Coverage checker instead of that mentioned by David Ayling. Then you can set it with your full post code, select the detailed view and give a house number. Then press Go. Scroll down and examine the transmitters mentioned and look at the expected reception for your location. That is what I did initially.

DAVID AYLING:
Despite what the website shows, there is no relay transmitter in the Dover Area, only the main transmitter which did have some engineering works carried out.
Michael Jukes would be better off using the Heathfield transmitter instead. See Coverage Checker - Detailed View Bluebell Hill is not at all suitable at his location.

All:
A reminder that there was a retune event at Dover on the 22nd August when the BBCA multiplex moved to UHF Ch.33. If you are mising the main BBC channels and have retuned it is possile that your aerial is an old C/D group that is not able to receive the new channel and it may need replacing. You can get free help if you do not have Satellite or Cable by contacting Freeview on 0808-100-0288 see Important changes to Freeview TV signals | Freeview also see the FAQs on that page in case they may help.
The new UHF ch.33 should be broadcasting on the full power of 80KW and if you are having trouble getting it, you may be in a marginal area and you should put your postcode and house number into Digital UK - Coverage checker rather than previous links to check predicted reception from available transmitters at your location.
If your lack of reception is an old aerial issue you might get temporary reception on LCN 751 and channels above in your programme list as mentioned inthe Freeview FAQs. There is a further retune event at Dover on the 16th October and if you haven't had your aerial replaced by then you may lose more/all channels.
Bill:
Use the coverage checker Digital UK - Coverage checker to see which transmitter will be best for your location - not all transmitters are suitable for every location due to hills, buildings etc. The full range of channels from Ashford start on 16th October.
DAVID AYLING:
As mentioned already you should use the coverage checker to see which transmitters is best for you. There are relay transmitters all round Kent and not all are suitable for everyone even when they think they are near enough and most do not transmit all 6 multiplexes (including a small relay in Dover town).
If you are still having problems with UHF ch.33 then it's probably due to inadequate aerial as the transmitter will be using the full 80kW, so you should contact the Freeview advice line 0808-100-0288.

Michael Jukes:
'm not sure exactly what MikeP looked at but according to Coverage Checker - Detailed View you are better off staying with the Dover transmitter, especially for the COM4/5/6 multiplexes.
