Postcode is RG27 9PU. Following Hannington DSO I have auto-tuned Sony KDL-32EX523 TV. Unable to Rx PSB1 (BBC A) and PSB3 (BBC B) although they are stored in the 800s but showing 'no signal'. PSB2 (D3&4) ITV Meridian etc is loud and clear and also stored in the 800s. We would like to receive BBC 1 South which we received on analogue.
Rig is as follows:
'contract' type aerial on Hannington via Triax 3739STP Combiner to TV, plus a second 'contract' type aerial on Crystal Palace via Antiference PU1240 amplifier and then same combiner to TV.
All Crystal Palace services (PSB and COM) are loud and clear despite range and auto-stored 001 onwards. Re-connecting the amplifier makes no difference on the Hannington aerial.
Do I now need to upgrade to a Group B aerial to Rx all Hannington digital services?

Malcolm H: The reason that the Hannington channels are in the 800s is because your TV has found another transmitter's signal first, probably Crystal Palace. The solution is a manual scan, or an auto-scan with the aerial unplugged until the scan is past 35 (about 1/3 way through).

Thank you, Andy.
Regardless of where the Hannington channels store themselves Hannington PSB1 and PSB3 BBC channels pixellate very badly and the TV mostly displays 'No Signal', whilst the Hannington PSB2 (ITV Meridian etc) is perfect. Conversely the 'stronger' Crystal Palace equivalent (Mux 2) pixellates lightly.
I can't understand why we can't receive BBC from Hannington since DSO but can receive ITV. We are close enough to the Tx. Is Hannington still attenuated to the South-East to minimise interference with Guildford? Could my Hannington BBC reception improve after Crystal Palace DSO?

Malcolm H: I am in Fleet, SE of Hannington and I get 100% signal level and quality on PSB1 & 2, even if I add a 12dB attenuator. I have a high gain group B aerial and a 9dB mast-head amplifier. Once the remainder of the muxes go to full power, I'm hoping to remove the mast-head amplifier.
Could you try removing the combiner and feeding the Hannington aerial directly to your receiver?

A strange thing happened on Saturday. During the Hannington switch-over I was able to receive Freeview HD briefly during the morning, then for a couple of days I got nothing but interference. I checked again on Saturday, and while I was checking it clicked, and the picture appeared crystal clear and stable. It's been like it ever since, much better than FreeSat. I have a mast-head pre-amp that I was planning on having removed once the boast to the minor stations complete in April.

Thanks, Andy.
Removing the combiner and feeding the Hannington aerial directly to my receiver pulls in PSB2 ONLY, albeit loud and clear. Hardly a glimmer of PSB1 or 3 despite being only a few kilometres away.
Effectively, the Hannington DSO has deprived me of BBC 1 South.
I rather suspect that the digital emissions from Hannington do not like my old aerial (which was good enough for analogue...!) I note that OFCOM DSO issue 3 shows that the Post-DSO aerial group is BH whereas the Pre-DSO aerial group was E/WH. (This contradicts the information under the signal strength map...)
I think I'll wait until after Crystal Palace DSO in case the south-easterly attenuation still exists...

Hello,
I have just bought the PCTV systems nanostick T2 290e DVB-T2 for installation onto my laptop (Windows 7 64bit), I am able to receive all freeview expected digital programme transmissions except for anything relating to HD - I presume I am just receiving standard transmission?
I had a CRT portable television before switchover hence using my laptop as a temporary measure before I buy a modern television with its internal freeview receiver; I worry for the standard definition picture quality should HD is also not picked up, or have same issue if I optain a stand-alone free-view receiver.
On the PCTV nanostick I have used the supplied PCTV software, tuned in, and also used Windows Media Centre, tuned in, but neither can offer up channel 50 (BBC HD) and other HD channels - this is connecting the aerial cable straight onto the nanostick.
I am considered in zone with the Hannington transmitter - I live between Reading and Basingstoke. Is it my aerial? I would imagine it is 20 years old or so and the reception when analogue was up and running was okay..
Any thoughts are welcomed.
Yours
Gordon.

Since switching from Crystal Palace to Hannington, scheduled programmes recorded using the EPG on my Sagem have failed to record across the channels. However I have noticed that if I go to that channel during a scheduled recording, the recording starts from that point rather than at the beginning. As I had no such problems prior to the switchover from CP, I am sure it its not my PVR but possibly a lack of receiving a signal via the transmitter allowing the programme to record from the start. If anyone can help it would be appreciated so I can stay on Hannington rather than reverting to the CP transmitter.
