Ludlow

Jon Reardon Smith: Carry out a manual tuning scan of UHF channel 42.

According to the posting above yours, DAB and FM from Ludlow were off-air between 05:50 to 06:20 on 22nd December. This was sourced from BBC Reception [bbc.co.uk/reception]. No indication is given above that TV was off-air, although I should say that this doesn't necessarily mean the BBC page didn't say it. The above postings from 'Transmitter engineering' are taken from the BBC page, so it's possible that the BBC page said something that the bot on this site didn't get.

A common reason for different types of broadcasts (e.g. FM, TV, DAB) to go off air at relay sites such as this is a power outage. Unlike the high power main transmitters, they don't have a generator for back-up power.

Having checked the BBC Reception page, it's worth checking the power-cut map of the electricity distribution network operator for the transmission site, which is National Grid Electricity Distribution (formerly Western Power Distribution): https://powercuts.nationalgrid.co.uk/

The postcode for the transmitter site for use on the power-cut map is SY8 2HD, which is shown at the top of this UK Free TV page. Power cuts may not be shown once they have been restored.

Jon Reardon Smith:

That is certainly very odd especially as it would seem to coincide with a fault on DAB and FM earlier in the day, but as of a few moments ago, I can't find any fault reports. However because of the Chrsitmas break I'm suspecting such reports could be delayed.

Do check the obvious things such as your aerial looking intact and still pointing correctly.
Have a look in your 800 channel numbers in case they've appeared up there for some reason.
Are you still getting the HD channels 101-107?

This repeater has been playing up for at least 4 days from about 24-12 to the 28-12 [ I was working some of the time]. This is starting to become a habit at Xmas as in previous years, and presumably gets fixed after a holiday. Sometimes rolling drop outs of many channels, by 28-12 it was just mux channel 45 missing. Well done anonymous owners, messing up Xmas again

Graham C:

It's not the repeater playing up, there are no reported faults for the transmitter, unfortunately it's current weather conditions. The BBC and Freeview have got current warnings -
High pressure currently affecting TV & Radio services across parts of the UK - 24 December | Help receiving TV and radio
High pressure could affect reception across the UK this week | Freeview

In fact the BBC issued some specific reports for their multiplexes on the transmitter -
Weather conditions may be affecting your reception -
For the BBCB HD multiplex -
From 12:49am to 7:50pm on 25th Dec 2024, From 7:50am on 26th Dec 2024 to 4:11am on 27th Dec 2024, From 9:55am to 10:23am on 27th Dec 2024, From 11:11am to 12:39pm on 27th Dec 2024, From 11:08pm on 27th Dec 2024 to 7:11am on 28th Dec 2024
For the BBCA multiplex -
From 8:13pm to 9:53pm on 24th Dec 2024, From 12:08am to 1:05pm on 25th Dec 2024, From 9:20pm on 26th Dec 2024 to 3:46am on 27th Dec 2024, From 11:08pm on 27th Dec 2024 to 7:11am on 28th Dec 2024.

Those may have covered many of the periods that you had problems. I'm afraid there's not a lot that can be done with current weather conditions or current sunspot activity.
Radio reception has also been affected in a number of locations.
