The symbol shows the location of the Mendip (Somerset, England) transmitter which serves 720,000 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Mendip (Somerset, England) mast?

To whom it may concern:

Mendips is still sending out a signal on c49.

1) this is a waste of electricity.

2) My old Sony vcr DOES NOT have a manual digital channel search (it has one for analogue...) which means the auto search always locks on to c49 first, over-riding the new BBC1 channel (c32).
.
Please will someone do something about this??

Brian Newcombe: There's nothing anyone on this website can do as no one here has any connection with any broadcaster or the transmitter company (Arqiva). There are further frequency changes due at Mendip on 15th and 19th June so perhaps the additional mux will be switched off on one of those dates.

Postcode = TA1 1UU. For past 8 weeks unable to receive channels 1 & 2 and others via BT TV box - channels 1 & 2 up until 4/6/20 on channels 751 & 752. Multiple retunes carried out with BT directions. Separate TV with no BT box ok up until 4/6/20. On 5/06/19, change over day for Freeview, multiple channels totally missing after further retune. Advised by Freeview to retune by way of "in-out-reach-in" method - i.e. retune TV with no aerial connection to reset/remove previous frequencies. Asked "what tv aerial" would be req'd if old aerial not compatible. Freeview would not answer this specific question. All Freeview communications webpages etc does not give info of what aerial needed if replacement req'd. Courtesy of gov't decision yet again the individual will no doubt have to pay for an upgrade somewhere along the line - i.e. a new aerial./engineer. Communication and engagement with customers is appauling. I have spent hours with BT and Freeview trying to sort this out.

A Lambart:

If you do nothave cable or satellite, you may be eligable for a free aerial upgrade. Contact Freeview helpline.

You probably need a wideband aerial and it would be wise to have one fitted to cope with future planned changes.

I am from Swindon postcode SN1 2DL. I can receive all the signals except the BBC SD and radio channels. UHF Ch 32 is showing a signal but there is zero signal quality. Does this mean that we may no longer be getting these channels on UHF 32?

Hi,

if the frequencies are being lowered to the 30s for Mendip fv in order to free up space for 5G, then why have/are they moving two of the HD multiplexes back up to 55 & 56?

Thanks in advance,
Peye

Peter Hancock: COM7 & COM8 are temporary multiplexes and are due to close in the next few years. They have been moved to UHF channels 55 & 56 which form the centre gap of the new 700MHz mobile band in order to continue broadcasting beyond the completion of the 700MHz clearance, as the mobile networks are not expected to start using those centre gap frequencies for at least another couple of years, at which point COM7 & COM8 will close.
