Hi Chris
Problem solved. It was a problem with my Freeview box. After lots of playing around have got it sorted. The 'good-woman' is not happy as she now has to fins all the programs that she had planned to watch/record!!!
Thanks again
Bruce

New Humax recorder signal strength in Stoke Gifford Quest HD 114 is 76% but channel sometimes drops out. What signal strength should I expect. Replaced old antenna on roof with new hi strength in loft and worked fine on my old Humax until the tuner died. So is the new Humax performing properly?
Thanks Giff

Old Giff:
The actual signal strength reading will vary with set/PVR/device, you should be fine with 76% for COM7. What is more important is the Quality figure which should be 100% for the greater part of the time. As long as that figure isn't dropping too low there ought not to be a problem.
Right now you should be finding things fairly stable but there is some variable intermittent "tropospheric ducting" around at present - https://www.bbc.co.uk/rec….jpg affecting different areas at different times & not all channels are necessarily affected at the same time or at all. There's likely to be some about for a couple more days but could become more variable and predictions can change.
Whilst you shouldn't have any particular reception problems in most of the Stoke Gifford area if you are still having problems now, we'd need a full postcode to look at the predicted reception at your location.

things are back to normal, guess it must have been the atmosphere!!!!!!!!!!!!
Msg appearing on Pick indicates that there is a need to retune to ch34 but when I try this I get nothing!!
Has it moved or not?

Bruce Tearle:
Yes it was "atmospherics" there's been a lot of "Tropospheric Ducting" around causing interference, see Effect of tropospheric ducting on Freeview | RTIS for a simplistic explanation. It may continue on and off for a day or two more.
Pick moved to LCN34 and Sky Arts has been put at LCN11, you may need to manually retune the ArqA/COM5 multiplex if you aren't seeing the change, UHF C33 at Mendip.
Neil Chilton:
Weather related issues, see comment above.
Also note that predicted reception at your location for COMs 4-6 is variable from Mendip.

Just to add to the above, Mendip is currently listed for Planned Engineering with "Possible weak signal" !
