The symbol shows the location of the Mendip (Somerset, England) transmitter which serves 720,000 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Mendip (Somerset, England) mast?

Chris:

You should not need a "booster" in your location, signals on all multiplexes are predicted to be very good UNLESS you are splitting the signal using a passive splitter to supply more than one set, OR your aerial is in the loft where the signal will be weaker than an external aerial.

What make/model is this booster?
Where have you got it located?
The filter in it needs to be the B700 type, if it's B800 it won't filter the latest mobile signals.

As Steve has mentioned, check in your TV Tuning section for Signal strength and Quality figures. Anything less than 100% Quality indicates a problem, which could be too much signal which can have similar effects to a weak signal or interference.

Thx guys, signals from my LG tv that has signal test, shows anything from 50% to 75% on all 6 Main transmitter channels, all the booster box says is, it filters 3G/4G and 5G/LTE, and works 88-694MHz from Argos One for All, i got the booster at the end of the aerial cable, then tv aerial into one of the 4 inputs, aerial has the main input, when i tried test signal with no booster, the strengths were all the same as with booster, its a 23 dB booster as well, regarding Transmitter, all aerials around my road seem to be pointing 50 degrees on my compass, well there are 2 outer circles on compass, 1 to 64, thats where i get the 50 from, and a inner circle 0 to 360, thats pointing 282.

Oh, close neighbours i know have cable, i have asked them before, whats a pain is, last few hours all channels been fine, but then tomorrow could all be bad, and what i dont understand is, why only the batch of freeview channels on C48 (690.0MHz) give me a problem, all other channels fine, there all on the same transmitter, so i would think they either all breakup or there all good, thx

Some times we can go days without a problem, then some days its breaking up all day, there is no pattern to it.

Chris:

I know the amp, I have one, it's quite a good amp and it's an SV9604. The 23dB gain is overall it's less than that per output. But no matter.
It sounds like the aerial is a bit off beam, as Steve mentioned it should be 254 degrees but no matter for the moment.

You mention the Signal strength figures, but haven't given the Quality figures. I'm afraid the strength figures in isolation as not very meaningful. Can you please give the Quality figures for each multiplex ideally both with the amp in circuit and without it.

Sources of interference (mobile signals perhaps) will usually affect the frequency of the nearest TV channel to them, in this case C48.
You haven't mentioned where the aerial is, which could be helpful. How old is it roughly? Has it been changed in the last 10 years?

Aerial brand new the last week, 49 element horizontal, loft, has a great picture when working, just C48 freeview channels are effected, if it was mobile signal interference, would it not be all the time ?

Chris:

One might have thought mobile signal interference might be constant, but some cases I've heard about are all unexpectedly different.

Do you have any older equipment that may have an RF output that gets switched on periodically such a Games consoles, a Video recorder, an old Sky box & etc.?
Do you have any neighbours who might be radio amateurs?

Chris.SE: It's funny you ask about radio amateurs because I spotted on Street View that there is a ham radio operator on Chris' road, judging by two large aerials towering above the rooftop.

Only thing i have in same room as my tv and booster, is a FM aerial that i use to use with my 30 year old separate Yamaha tuner, but its all disconnected, and has been in same place for last 30 years, and i have only had this problem last few years or more, i don't think its neighbours, but you never know, have had bad interference the last few nights at like 1am thou, until the morning 9am, anyway thx for all help, i don't want to pester you anymore, its the weekend after all, i will try a few things over the weekend, thx again guys.
