Malcolm Brooks:
As you live in a block of apartments, the distribution system will no doubt be channelised and a filter will need changing with the channel change, this is why you experienced things working correctly after a week last time - the length of time the Management took to get the aerial contractor in to change the filters. I'd be asking for a refund on some rental or maintenance fees!!

Amphy:
If you live in flats, you may have the same issue as Malcolm Brooks.
However, if you have an aerial amplifier, it is also possible you may have too much signal. If it's an internal one, try taking it out of circuit.

Bizman:
Whilst it's possible that Alison Armshaw may have too much signal it is also possible that her PSB1/2/3 muxes have tuned to the local Bath repeater as these are lower UHF channel numbers - she didn't specify which programmes she had problems with!

Alison Armshaw:
If you are still having problems then do a full factory reset of your TV/box as described at the top of this page My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound or the channel line up is wrong | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice
At step 6, I would then leave the aerial unplugged until the scan has got to about say 40% or above UHF channel 30 depending on your display. If that doesn't work, do the clear/reset again and the do a manual retune using UHF channels C61, C54, C48, C52, C56 and if you HD C58.

Sue:
Have you had any channel loss with any of the previous retunes that have eventually got resolved? If so, you may have a channelised system as I mentioned to Malcolm Brooks.
If not, try the reset I've just mentioned for Alison Armshaw.

Dave Lindsay, you said "Check that the receivers are tuned to the channels used by Mendip and not Bath." How do I do this exactly, please?

Thank you,
Ben

...and Mike Dimmick, is this a suitable attenuator do you reckon? Adjustable 0-20dB attenuator, coaxial connector version: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

Thanks!

Ben Ward: Hopefully the signal strength screen gives the UHF channel that the receiver is tuned to (most do, although some don't).

As services are transmitted in groups known as multiplexes or "muxes", you only need check one service from each mux.

Bath only transmits only Public Service channels (BBC, ITV1, C4, C5 etc) so if this is the problem then it will only affect them.

BBC One should be tuned to C61 for Mendip and not C25 for Bath. ITV1 should be tuned to C54 for Mendip and not C28 for Bath. If any of these receivers are HD, then BBC One Hd should be tuned to C58 and not C22.

Ben Ward: If this does turn out to be the case, run the automatic tuning scan with the aerial unplugged up to 50% and you'll miss out channels used by Bath and those immediately above it but be plugged in for Mendip.

Hello there, knowledgeable people! ^_^ I'm having a terrible problem with Freeview Reception and was wondering if anyone could confirm or deny that the Mendip Transmitter is having any engineering work done to it? After the slight channel change on the 28th of March when all the channels were set to full whack, we had perfect reception for a day or two (I forget how long exactly ^_^;) but after that day or two, like I said, our reception is terrible. Channels 54 & 48're not perfect but definitely the strongest, next is 52, and depending on the time of day 61 & 56 are unwatchable. I've noticed a few other people with similar problems so is it us, or is there something going in Mendip that we don't know about? Thanks for reading! ^_^
