Stuart: The problem is that the final channel allocations for Wenvoe COM multiplexes clash with the allocations for the PSB multiplexes at Trefechan. The change to the final channels for SDN and ArqA multiplexes happened on the 27th of April. The ArqB multiplex moved at switchover at the end of March 2010.
You could see how well it works without the amplifiers first. The COM multiplexes are now in adjacent channels to the PSB multiplexes, and if the signal levels are too high it causes intermodulation, which causes errors in other channels but the worst errors occur in adjacent channels.
Otherwise, there's really nothing you can do without spending a lot of money on an antenna array that rejects more signal from Trefechan, or getting a satellite subscription. Freesat doesn't carry many of the channels carried by the Freeview COM multiplexes.

Hi Mike,
Not sure if the same guy or someone else phoned me yesterday with the same problem. I gave him exactly the same answer as you gave on this thread, this is a common problem here as every local transmitter is psb only & many people have invested in wenvoe rigs that have worked very well for years but now have these problems.
Im looking into aerial specs for a group B high gain very directional aerial with a very good front to back ratio to fit in future & to cure some existing installs. Thankfully I havent had any calls on our own installs but we align with rover meter / spectrum analizer rather than just point in the general direction like some do ! that may well make the difference.

Mark Aberfan Aerials: This will happen in the "final configuration" for quite a few areas, because the COM allocations use "gaps" in the PSB allocations, as did the pre-switchover Freeview transmissions in the analogue plan.
That is, of course, because the 3/4 of the only analogue plan is the new digital plan, for most sites.

CF47 9PF. Still have less channels than anywhere else. Upgraded aerial due to change over. My aerial is on the roof pointing towards Penyard. We were one of the first areas to go digital and we have the least. The T.V's I use have built in freeview, Sony and Toshiba, both are lcd, so not cheapies. We pay the same licence fee for a lesser service. Could you please explain why.

Hi Dave,
Sorry for the delay answering, I have customers in both Pandy close & Lakeside gardens who got full Wenvoe service, However there are also reports (thankfully not my customers !) who have reported that trefechan mast has knocked out some of their channels. I cant say for sure but there would appear to be a good chance of reception but it may not be straight forward.

Hi David,
I think you made the right choice mate, Ive since visited a customer who had every channel from wenvoe perfect for years, then when switchover came they stated getting problems on the channels that clash with trefechan. Ive had to recommend a freesat box as changing aerials etc didn't help.
If you havent bought a box yet, the echostar box is down to £199 at merthyr's blockbuster & £179.99 at amazon.com.
