mr rob bennett: Firstly check all of the cables and connections behind your TV for anything that has become loose or damaged. Do not attempt to retune as this will delete your correctly tuned channels before searching for them again. Please provide a full postcode so we can see which transmitters are available to you, where you are in relation to the transmitter and your predicted signal strength etc.

David James:

It all depends on where you live, so please provide a full post code so we can see what the reception condistions are like where you are and whether there are any other possible sources that might work for you.

It is unlikely that there will be any more channels available from the Nottingham transmitter, it's a commercial descision by the non-`PSB broadcasters - if there are not enough viewers served then they don't pay to provide their services.

MikeP: My postcode is NG16 1BL. Which would be my best/easiest/cheapest option to get BBC4 HD - turn existing aerial to pick up Waltham, or fit masthead amp to pick up Sutton Coldfield

David James: According to the coverage checker results for your postcode, Waltham looks like a better option than Sutton Coldfield for your location. Unless you already have a wideband aerial, you would probably need to replace your aerial for Waltham with a wideband type (such as a log periodic design) rather than just turning it round.

Hi, unable to receive BBC4 and BBC News HD, Samsung Smart TV sees nothing on C31 and C37. I understand this is probably because of the Nottingham transmitter, but anything I could do to receive from Waltham transmitter? Also, what is happening on March 31 2018? COM7 channels for Nottingham by then?

Freddy: I'm on Waltham, and it seems fine. If your not getting those channels/muxes any more, check two things, which are common problems:

a) that the TV hasn't locked on instead onto the Nottingham Light transmitter. As the page above says, it may not do the channels your looking for. Since Nottingham's frequencies start at Ch27, and Waltham's starts at Ch49, even though they are in different directions, thats a real possibility.

b) Check your cables. If your losing muxes, its usually your system. Could be a loose connection or cable - start with the back of the TV. If you are tuned to Waltham, then its probably this.

No my problem is that I've never had any experience with receiving Freeview HD channels and just bought a new TV, but I can't receive the COM7 channels, and I have no clue why. Do you think it's because our aerial is too old? All cables have been checked to be fine.

Freddy: If your not getting the Com 7 channels, and you've got an HD tuner, then logically, your tuned into a transmitter that doesn't have them.

Try checking which one your tuned into - if its Nottingham, then do a retune, perhaps manually.

If your on Waltham, then check signal strength. If your signal is low, then yes, check cables, etc.

Freddie:

If you are indeed tuned to the Nottingham transmitter then you will not get COM7 channels as it does not appear to transmit that nor COM8. I assume you get BBC1 HD, etc?

The Waltham transmitter does provide both COM7 and COM8 channels, so maybe you need to see if it is possible to receive signals from there. I expect you should being just off Vernon Road.
