Susan Wade:
Hi Susan. You should normally have no problems with reception from Stockland Hill in your location. There are currently no reported problems/faults or Planned Engineering at Stockland Hill.
Have you looked to check your aerial is still where it should be, is intact, and pointing in the correct direction which should be compass bearing 69 degrees, that's 21 degrees N of due E (compare to neighbours if need be). Also check the downlead is not flapping in the wind.
Check all your aerial and any flylead connections behind your TV to ensure everything is connected properly.
There is one remaining problem which may have caused temporary loss of signal and if you retuned at all with no signal it usually just clears the correct tuning. It's never advised to retune when you have no signal when you had been correctly tuned.
Current weather conditions are causing problems for some.
It is not simply "high pressure" that gives the problems as some reports would suggest. It's Tropospheric Ducting/Temperature Inversion which can often accompany high pressure but the conditions can be very variable, you can't correlate this with what you "see" of the weather or simple barometric pressure. Such conditions have been present over several recent weeks affecting different parts of the country at different times and they don't usually affect several multiplexes at once (it depends where the interference is coming from). There is some present now which is predicted to be quite strong in your area.
Check in your TV tuning section that you are correctly tuned to Stockland Hill's UHF channels as per the lists at the top of this page. If you retuned you might have inadvertently got tuned to another transmitter whose signals disappear as conditions change.
Manual tune those UHF channels if need be as automatic tuning may miss them if conditions are not favourable at a given instant. You may have to try several times in these conditions if you aren't correctly tuned.

Why am I unable to tune channel 237 TALK TV ? I have tried retuning several times all to no avail, Is it because it is not available from Stockland Hill Transmitter?
Regards John

John Berrington:
Talk TV is carried on the SDN multiplex. Stockland Hill transmits all the 6 main multiplexes as listed at the top of the page (although the list of channels on each has not been fully updated with some of the recent changes).
See Channel listings for Industry Professionals | Freeview for which channels are carried on which multiplex.
If you are not receiving any of the other channels on the SDN multiplex, then you aren't getting that multiplex for some reason. If so, please provide a full postcode so we can check your predicted reception.
If you are getting other channels on the SDN multiplex, check in your EPG's LCN 800s as after retuning, depending on circumstances, TV set memories can get muddled and put a channel there as it thinks the correct location is already in use!
If you find channels in the 800s, then unplug your aerial and carry out a full automated retune which should clear the memory as no channels should be found. Plug the aerial back in and repeat the retune which should restore channels correctly.
If you get signals from more than one transmitter (eg. maybe in Wales) then sometimes channels get put in the 800s, so do a manual tune for each multiplex's UHF channel after clearing memory.
See the UHF numbers at the very top section of the page (eg. UHF C25 for SDN).

I have coverage on non HD channels but not on HD and Gb news. This is only on my LG TV. This is the last on a line of BT Box and a Panasonic recorder on which all channels are available. Would the tv be at fault or is the reduction in signal passing through two other devices.

Richard Hood: What's the model number of the LG TV? Has it ever received any HD channels? If it's an older TV it may not support the DVB-T2 transmissions used for HD channels on Freeview.

Richard Hood:
If the TV has an HD/T2 Tuner, it's possible your location might be prone to more reception problems for the HD multiplex, but a Full postcode would be needed to check that.
You could also try a Manual tune on UHF C29 and see what signal strength and quality you get, if any.

Hi, I believe I get my channels from the stockland hill transmitter. I'm on freeview, and on 103 ITV1 HD, I get the local news from midlands rather than the west? It just makes no sense to me!

Ethan Holmes:
ITV currently have a limited number of sub-regions for Freeview +1s & HD.
Central (West) currently serves Central, West & South-West.
They are planning to eventually provide local regional news for Freeview HD as they have done already on Satellite HD and as the BBC have just completed on Freeview (Satellite HD had been completed previously).
There doesn't seem to be a timescale yet for this, it's been suggested that as ITV are a commercial company there are number of contractual issues to resolve first.
