brian perry : In addition to that said by Dave Lindsay, this problem is known about by the BBC and whom have issued advice on a way around it to enable a viewer to "choose" which of the two HD muxes they wish to store in the receivers tuner, "choose" being mentioned as both cannot be stored at the same time until the TV or box manufacturer comes up with an "over air" software fix for the problem, as its not one caused by the BBC.
However although you can view the instructions by opening the undermentioned link, this procedure will only work if CBBC HD / BBC1HD / BBC2 HD etc are seen in the LCN / EPG listing, albeit that they cannot be viewed if selected, should they be seen in the listing then C40 would be the mux channel to enter ref:8 in the instructions.
If on the other hand they aren't seen in the listings then your best policy would be to remove the aerial followed by carrying out an auto-scan to blank out everything stored in the tuner, then on completion reconnect the aerial and carry out a "manual" tune on each of the muxes used by the station "excluding" COM7 (C33)
As you have made your posting under the Sutton Coldfield heading then the mux channels required would be as follows / 41 (BBC) - 46 (ITV) - 40 (HD) - 42 (ITV3 etc) - 45 (Pick TV etc) - 39 (4Music etc) - 51(local)
By the way, the advice given is to enable LCN / EPG 73 and also 101 - 105 to be viewed and not the COM 7 HD service.

Looking at the programme line-up given at the top of this page for Sutton Coldfield and expanding the listings to show all the programmes and services, there is no service listed on Logical Channel Number 303.
The BBC Red Button services are shown as being: BBC Red Button 1 on LCN 301 carried by the PSB1 mux on Ch 43 650 MHz, BBC Red Button on LCN 200 on the same mux, BBC Red Button 2 on LCN 202 carried on COM5 using Ch 45 660 MHz. There is no mention of a Red Button HD.

Thanks for your response. I have since found that BBC Red Button HD303 was introduced on Ch40 626MHz for special events such as Wimbledon and Glastonbury, and has now been discontinued.

Brian Perry, The fact that you cannot receive Freeview HD channels 101-105 , but can receive HD channels on 106-111 perfectly ok, tells me that its because channels 101-105 are broadcast at full power 200kw, where's channels 106-111 are on temporary low power at 89kw on the new Com 7 multiplex. And this would suggest that your tuner in your Freeview HD box maybe being overloaded by too much signal. The mpeg4 tuners for HD in some set boxes and TV's and PVR'S are rather sensitive to the signal input compared to the standard Freeview receivers. IAs for myself, i have perfect Standard Freeview reception, but i have a high bit rate reception on HD. I can receive all available HD channels ok, but my signal level is too high for perfect reception, so im going to have to replace my group E antenna with a log periodic which will give me a consistent level signal across the band with no extra gain, which will help lower the signal strength input, and hopefully lower my bit rate loss level I currently get. You need to let this site know roughly where you are located and what set up you have such as tv model, antennal set up etc. Then I'm sure someone on here will be able to help you resolve your reception issue.

Hi, I believe my freeview in Nuneaton (CV10 7) comes from Sutton Coldfield. Whilst I get an excellent freeview picture, my Sky HD magic eye, which used to work perfectly well, now won't change channels. The picture quality on the channel I was tuned to has deteriorated, so I have changed the channel to a better quality picture - which is fine, however, I can still no longer change channels.
Do you have any advice on which channel is clear of any interference from other channels, as I am assuming something may have changed from a certain date (around 3 months ago).
Tried to follow the information above, but can't work it out.

Adrian Wathes: Checking the reception possibilities with reference to CV10 does indeed indicate that your Freeview reception is from Sutton Coldfield, but though!, dependant on your exact location it might also be possible to pick up signals from the Waltham transmitter, this then creating the situation where approximately 16 channels would have to be avoided.
However, rather than using your Sky boxes RF modulator on these lower channel numbers you should keep it set in the higher 60's range such as Ch64 - 68 where zero transmissions take place.
As far as your Sky box not changing channels is concerned, is your magic eye still illuminated? and does said eye fluctuate when you try to change channels using the Sky's remote control?
Finally, have you made any changes to the coax cabling between your Sky boxes RF output and the magic eye?

I live in Quinton Birmingham, again I have lost channels on my Freeview, today only having 9 channels to watch and none of them I what to watch.
It's no channels picture break-up or only some channels
to get this I have a buster box in my loft
I AM NOW GOING TO FREESAT WITH DISH MY WIFE AS IT IN THE LIVING ROOM WITH VERY LITTLE PROBLEMS "SO GOODBYE FREEVIEW"

Kenneth, It looks like your problem is too much signal received at the tv set, because you have it connected to a in loft antenna through a signal amplifier. The signal strength at you location line of sight of Sutton Coldfield is around 63 dbuv. This signal strength is enough to receive all Freeview channels without the need for an amplifier. Disconnect the amplifier and see what happens. The fact that your wife can receive Freeview on her tv downstairs without any issues minus an amplifier makes me think its the amplifier causing your channel break-ups and channel losses.
