The symbol shows the location of the Tacolneston (Norfolk, England) transmitter which serves 330,000 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Tacolneston (Norfolk, England) mast?

Please read my long post yesterday on p159 Tacolneston (Norfolk, England) Full Freeview transmitter | free and easy Also note that the "tropo" is now subsiding so you shouldn't have any problems with a manual retune.
If you are still having problems with a new retune, try the following first - unplug the aerial and carry out a full automatic retune. This should clear all previous tuning as no channels will be found.
Plug the aerial back in and ideally carry out a manual tune using the UHF channels previously advised, or if you can't manual retune, repeat an automatic tune.

Mardler :

The transmitter is listed for Planned Engineering this week with "Possible service interruptions" (which might include what seems like low power). If you happened to have retuned (not advised in those circumstances), it may have cleared the correct tuning and you will have to retune at some point when transmissions return to normal.

I have two set-top boxes both of which receive all stations perfectly with the singular exception of channel 50 (Sony Movies Classic). Each are on a separate aerial therefore the same malfunction' would appear to exist, and I have tried retuning many times to no avail. I would be grateful if you could advise. my grateful thanks for an otherwise perfect service.

Last year Sony moved a number of their channels to Local Multiplexes see Channel listings | Freeview
There is a Local multiplex broadcast from Tacolneston with a Local station - That's TV East https://www.thats.tv/norfolk/ which is at LCN7 in your EPG. It is beamed towards Norwich from the transmitter, so unless you live to the NE of Tacolneston and/or are close enough, you may not receive the multiplex. It's on UHF C32, you could try a manual tune on that UHF channel.

The UHF channel list at the top of this page is out of date as the site owner has not had time to update many pages with all the 700MHz clearance changes. The full current list is as follows -
C40, C43, C46, C42, C45, C39, C55, C56, C32 in the order PSBs1-3, COMs4-8, Local.
Note, satisfactory reception of COMs7&8 and the Local multiplexes will depend upon your location.

Are you sure you mean C32? That is not the BBC multiplex, C32 at Tacolneston is the Local multiplex.
I can't find any reported problems with any transmissions from Tacolneston.
Do you perhaps mean C32 from the Winter Hill transmitter which has had changes recently. If so, then free help is available from Freeview, ring them on 0808-100-0288.
If it's not that, please provide a full postcode so we can check which transmitter(s) you may be receiving and hence any reported problems might be identified.

Sharon: Talking Pictures has not been removed from any transmitter, it is still being broadcast on Freeview channel 81, on the COM6 multiplex along with Dave ja vu, Yesterday, DMAX, HGTV and various others. Has your mother lost any of those channels too? If those channels are present, then retuning should restore Talking Pictures. If those channels are also missing, do not retune, but please provide your mother's full postcode so that we can see what the predicted reception is like at her location.

Sharon:

Talking Pictures is on the ArqB multiplex, see Channel listings for Industry Professionals | Freeview for which channels are on which multiplex for your reference though you don't need to bother your mother with all that information.

There hasn't been any changes recently, so if your mother used to get it, she should still be able to.
There was some Planned Engineering back in mid-Novemeber and there have been some periods of "continental interference" (to keep the language simple) on occasion more recently which could have disrupted reception at various times.
If your mother's set retuned automatically or she retuned at some point when there was no signal or there was strong interference, this usually just clears the correct tuning and a further retune is needed when signals return to normal.

The usual solution in these situations is to use the following technique -
Unplug the aerial and initiate a full automatic retune from the set's tuning menu - this should clear all previous tuning (in case there's incorrect tuning or channels in the wrong place etc.). Plug the aerial back in and repeat the automatic retune which will hopefully restore all channels correctly.
If that hasn't worked please post back with your mother's full postcode, details of missing channels etc., so we can look at predicted reception and offer further advice.

FYI if your mother is upto looking at the TV's tuning section, if there's any setting for the set to automatically update for channel changes, it's usually best to turn it off, as it's often more trouble than it's worth when there is signal disruption. Maybe you could do it for her at some future date if that's not possible for her to do. If a retune is needed at some point in the future, there's usually an on-screen pop-up to advise and a retune can be initiated manually.

For your information (and anyone else reading), the UHF channel list at the top of this page is out of date as the site owner has not had time to update many pages with all the 700MHz clearance changes that took place a while ago. The full current list is as follows -
C40, C43, C46, C42, C45, C39, C55, C32 in the order PSBs1-3, COMs4-7, Local.
Note, satisfactory reception of COM7 and the Local multiplex in particular will depend upon your location.
