Andy: There's talk here of a transmitter at Grenoside to serve those whose aerials point to Emley Moor, however I'm guessing that as you're better served by Belmont that you are probably on south or south each facing slope and therefore not in with a shot at that either:

Dave: Thanks for the reply and yes I'm on a South East slope. Officially I shouldn't be able to receive from Sheffield Transmitter, but following the digital switch over and associated power upgrade I get reasonable quality most of the time. It is a pity about the lack of quality for Sheffield Live though. Does anyone know anything about the Grenoside Transmitter being available and whether it will I'll be able to bensfit being at a relatively high point in S17? Cheers

Andy: I wouldn't like to say with any certainty whether the Grenoside transmitter, if it were to come to fruition, would serve you. In general terms, a south-facing slope is just what you don't want for a transmitter to the north! So I doubt it will.
This is a terrain plot from you to the Crosspool transmitter:

Obviously the plotter samples ground heights at set intervals and as it's only a relatively short distance it may not be entirely accurate.
There's also a question of which channel to use. Refer to Digital UK Coverage Checker for your location:

UHF channels available for use by TV are 21 to 30 and 39 to 60. At your location only 50, 55 and 59 are free. 56 and 57 are used by Waltham for its lower-powered COMs. We already know that 50, 55 and 59 are used at Oughtibridge so they won't be available for use by Grenoside. Therefore, if Grenoside comes off my guess is that it will broadcast on 56 or 57, and even if you are just about in with a shot you "may" find that outside chance obliterated by Waltham.
And then there is the question of your aerial for Grenoside (I guess it's unlikely you will receive from it, but let's just say you will), you will have to receive other channels from where?

Hi, I have a small problem with FreeView reception @s18 Dronfield
I have used the Terrain mapping site and can not find an Transmitter that indicates liner of site coverage.
I have found a reference to a repeater in Dronfield, which does seem to have line of site.
The web site states:
- Note that only the three basic PSB MUXES are transmitted from Dronfield, not all six.
- However, its 3 digital MUXES will be within its original C/D group
Which means nothing to me, If a use this transmitter, what will I loose?

If you look at the top of this page, you will see that there are three services marked as PSB1, PSB2 and PSB3. These are the one you will be able to receive. The rest marked COMx will not be being transmitted from the Freeview Lite transmitter at Dronfield.
