Digital HD Transmission definately coming from the Wrekin since 20/4/2011. Near Cefn Mawr, we get 2 lots of HD Channels, 1 lot from Wrekin ch30, 1 lot from Cefn Mawr ch60 (although aeriel points towards wrekin in different direction and not in vertical way, both 100% signal streghth and quality from cefn mawr transmitter). Still cannot get Welsh tv channels unless I plug in an indoor aerial and remove outside aerial (only London regions on HD channels), or any channels on mux 53 or mux 57 using outside wideband aerial (signals from Wrekin/Cefn Mawr still clash).

Tim H - Are the Welsh channels on frequencies that conflict with main Wrekin broadcasts? And does HD work on the indoor ae?

Does your tuner detect 53 and 57? You might try a booster if there is something in particular you want.

CH53 and CH57 are both used by wrekin & cefn mawr. See LL20 7UB. Using main aerial results in tuner ignoring both whilst tuning in (ie no channels found)

Got booster installed already, but so near to local transmitter that it drowns out Wrekin 53/57 MUX.

Using a 2 inch nail out of TV I get 80% Strength and 100% quality from Cefn Mawr including HD ch 53, 57 & 60. Although I then loose ITV3, ch4 HD from wrekin (if i turn off main aerial).

UK Free tv digital tv checker predicts i can get Winter Hill, but cannot, although we get Sutton C Analogue still - but this does not show up on the checker.

Tim - you seem to have everything and understand how it works!

Is there a residual problem?

I note ffrom
UK digital TV reception predictor

that 57/53 are used for DIFFERENT muxes! What fool decided that?

AFAIK the ONLY way you will cope with that is to have two different freeview tuners; one connected to a Wrekin ae; the other to a cefn mawr. (LL145HD)

Tim Hodkinson: The Digital UK postcode checker predicts a full service with good reception will be available from The Wrekin after 28th September 2011 when the COM muxes assume their post switchover powers and frequencies. It also predicts that you currently have good reception on the PSB muxes from Cefn Mawr. This of course only applies if the aerial is set for reception from this transmitter rather than receiving it off beam on on aerial set for The Wrekin.

barbara - AFAIK you should still be able to get both types, so I suspect your aerial or cabling is the problem.

Does the aerial still point the right way?

Check cables.

Do you have a booster or masthead amp?

Anything else changed?

TV in other rooms?

Neighbours OK or also problems?

Hi Brian,

I'm tuned to the Wrekin transmitter via my Freeview Humax PVR9200T and it's working fine at the moment. It says on your link that mine is one of the boxes that has problems receiving dual 2k and 8k mode. And that the workaround is to add 8k manually. Could you explain how I do this please and whether I need to bother seeing as I'm getting over 80 TV and 24 radio channels fine at the moment? I live within sight (1 mile away at most) of the transmitter. FYI I have an aerial rotator and so can tune in to Sutton Hill. Also I note that the signal strength display shows 100% Quality and best of 74% Strength on all channels. Will the strength improve after the final freqency sort out on 28th Sept? Despite overall good reception, I still get "No or Bad Siganl" on some channels. Is there any way to sort this now or would I have to wait till 28 Sept?

Well done on all your good work Brian and I hope all is ok with you

Regarding HD on uhf ch 30 it started on the 20th as that was the day i lost reception of CH 4 from crystal palace but gained BBC 2 from there.

After a week of waching tv from the wrekin i can confirm no problems with the new frequencies.

If anyone is interested i have posted the signal levels before and after DSO on my you tube channel along with the analogue close.
