Gordon R. Harrison: On screen messages were broadcast in the week leading up to the retune event.
If you actually look below the map on this page you get a list of each mux and their UHF channel number. Digital UK's detailed view also gives you that information.

"On-screen notifications MHEGs
MHEG pop-ups (linked to use of the blue and yellow buttons) are to run on the BBC A and D3&4 muxes and be shown on BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, Channel 4 and Channel 5 services as below:
D3&4 MHEGs will operate 7 days prior to the event and 2 days after. They will be seen by viewers of the OXFORD and WALTHAM primary transmitters and all of their respective relays. BBC A MHEGs will operate 3 days before the OXFORD and WALTHAM events.
NCNDs At -14 days, network change notifier descriptor (NCND) broadcasts will commence at the OXFORD and WALTHAM primary transmitters plus all of their respective relays. This will prepare compatible receivers to show on-screen messages on the 29 May 2013, or the first later date when the receiver is switched on from standby. The NCND signalling will run up to a month after the event."

Can you just explain why o a p are being messed about shouly the t v should alter its self if and when you mess about with your end we should not have to keep paying for some one to keep coming and putting it right

This website is for technical assistance and has no connection with the broadcasters, so it has no way of altering what is broadcast nor how it is done nor how changes affect viewers.
Ofcom are the regulator responsible and they don't seem, in my experienced view, to have considered the effect on viewers.
No TV set has ever been automatically adjustable to any changes. The older analogue system was planned a long time ago and was not changed at all, except in a few places when Channel 5 was added for some viewers. Freeview (digital TV) is using a different way of broadcasting and the 'authorities' are making changes to allow for more smartphones to access the internet faster, but it is seriously affecting many TV viewers.
If you feel that these changes are affecting you adversely I recommend you contact Ofcom at Ofcom, Riverside House, 2a Southwark Bridge Road, London, SE1 9HA.

Hi All.

Can not get any BBC channels, since retune.
Number of channels before retune, 116, Since retune 94
Done manual retune of required channels.
Ch 49 which carries all BBC, is carrying Zero Channels. with Strength of 88.
Just wondering. has somebody forgotten to turn that channel back on?
Everything worked fine before today.

James Paterson: Yeah they just turn off the BBC channels for a laugh every so often...
Need some more details - make/model of equipment, details of aerial, etc. Have you cleared all of the channels from your equipment before manually retuning?

James Paterson: I carried out a check on Walthams BBC mux Ch49 a few minutes ago and its perfectly OK in the Stamford area, and so although a complete retune should not really have been necessary as a manual tune on Ch49 should have been suffice try a complete auto-tune, of course making sure that you select east Midlands as the area if this request springs up after having carried out the auto tune.

James - I'm also getting signals from Waltham, and my BBC reception has been fine. I just did an automatic retune this morning, with no problem on the PVR. My cheapo digibox seems to like Yorkshire, rather than Midlands (no manual tuning), but Waltham seems to be fine on all muxs.

Poor BBC 2 & no BBC 3 or BBC 4 since retune. Reception on all channels was fine before retune. Based 5 miles north of Derby on a hill.

Goodness, the three channels have suddenly appeared 2 hours after I did the retune. Is the transmitter resetting perhaps still incomplete?
