Hi
I get poor reception in NG3 6FB in line of sight! I have no manual retune on my fv box. I have rescanned with no aerial connected, then rescanned with aerial. Then went into setup and deleted all channels except 29, 49, 54, 56, &57 (I dont have HD). I now cant find BBC1 or BBC2 (perhaps more are lost I've yet to check. I'll fully repeat , but if I've missed something please advise.

Peter Ball: Refer to my posting to Paul Stone, here:
Waltham (Leicestershire, England) analogue radio transmitter | ukfree.tv - 10 years of independent, free digital TV advice
What you need to do is ascertain whether BBC One, ITV, ITV3, Pick TV and Film4 are tuned correctly. If they are not, find out what they are tuned to then you know what you're dealing with and what you're trying to avoid by doing the unplugging aerial trick. That is, what you are trying to avoid depends on when the aerial needs unplugging.
Digital UK suggests that Sutton Coldfield may also be possible at your location. It uses channels 43, 46, 42, 45, 39 and these are in order (i.e. PSB1, PSB2, COM4, COM5, COM6, respectively). See the link I've provided for more information and ideas.

Peter Ball: The trick is to focus on the five services that are the first one on each multiplex:
PSB1 BBC One
PSB2 ITV
COM4 ITV3
COM5 Pick TV
COM6 Film4
If they are all present and correct then all other services on the same multiplexes would be expected to be.

Martin: C55 is used at Tacolneston for PSB1. There is moderate tropospheric ducting predicted currently for the East Midlands/East Anglia area, so it is quite likely that you are receiving signals which are travelling slightly further than normal.

Did another retune earlier and all was great.
About 20 minutes ago, BBC1 disappeared yet again.
Just came back again - but for how long?
I'm now wondering if there is any 4G at800 work going on - I think there was some mast work a couple of days ago locally direct in line to Waltham

Peter Ball- Are there any stations stored in the channel 800 numbers? If you have saved ch49 the BBC's should be there somewhere

With respect the above coverage map is c*rap especially between Leicester and Nuneaton where if it weren't for good old Sutton Coldfield we'd be in the ... mire ... it was very poor (from Waltham), indeed the signal was very poor in Leicester and needed a relay/booster, when we had analogue but now its vile or simply not there in a lump of South Leicstershire . Please tell BBC and ITV etc not to tell porkies. However you didn't print my last submission so you probably wont print this :-((

Rog: With existing masts at Emley Moor, Belmont, Sutton Coldfield, Sandy Heath and Tacolneston the original intention was to locate a transmitter to cover the parts left unserved or poorly served by these masts. Hence Waltham-on-the-Wolds was chosen as the site best suited for that purpose. Then along came the creation of the East Midlands region - unfortunately there were parts of Leicester, Northern parts of Derby and West Nottingham better served by Sutton Coldfield, whilst North Notts is served by Belmont. I recall the IBA pointing out that an area is considered to be "served" if it was covered by a reliable TV signal, irrespective of which regional sevice was carried by the transmitter. There have been a number of regional correction relays built however to serve parts of East Anglia, North Wales and North Derby!
