Sam: Many thanks for your update on the situation as I always appreciate being informed regarding the outcome of anything suggested, likewise I am pleased to learn that you have achieved a reasonable level of success using the Konig booster, and especially so when taking into account the fact that the engineering work being carried out at the Waltham transmitting station remains with a status of on-going, and something which is unfortunately responsible for the problems experienced by quite a number of disgruntled viewers within the stations service area.

Well, I live 12 miles away from the Waltham mast, we can see it on the skyline, whilst TVs are OK (fingers crossed!) the HDD Blu-Ray player has lost all channels due to 'Weak or No signal' and no amount of retuning will bring them back. Am loath to take player in for repair (only 10 months old) as I'm sure they will tell me there's no problem. Reading everyone elses posts has given me some small comfort, so thanks for that, a very useful site and I'll be passing it onto my friends and neighbours suffering similar problems.

Chattes: Although Freeview reception from Waltham has been, and still is, a bit iffy at times over the past few weeks what you have reported could suggest that some other factor is coming into the equation, this making me wonder what method you are using to feed the signal from the aerial into your Blue-Ray player as well as your TV's? as a low boost powered splitter should really be used.
Maybe you could give an update as far this is concerned.

I am reading these posts with interest. My neighbours and I have all lost signal from Waltham over the last few weeks and it is frankly beyond a joke. I live in PE10.
There are so many people complaining about it that it can't be localised issues. Come on tranmitter people. Sort it out.
Any ideas when the engineering work is going to be complete?

Incidentally, I used the BBC's online complaints form and received an e-mail back telling that Waltham was working normally. Beggars belief really.

Hi
I have little (no clue regarding aerials or signals but live in the LE7 area and for the past 7 days have experienced problems with reception. Going on my TV's diagnositcs it is receiving from East Yorks!!!! - but then other channels are receiving from East Mids. Our aerial has not been moved - I have also tried the re-tuning without the aerial and then manually tuning the appropriate channels but to little or no avail - Help.
But please can you explain in straight forward terms - or is it as I fear - something wrong with Waltham Transmitter????

TykeEL: On going engineering work has been taking place at the Waltham transmitting station for quite some time now and with random periods of weak signals being experienced by many, and so I would suggest that you once again blank out the channels already stored in the tuners memory then once completed proceed to manually tune in each of Waltham's muxes one at a time, and if all are successfully stored then do not under any circumstances be tempted to try another retune at any time as absolutely nothing is gained by doing this, because any channel that results in a blank screen is not actually lost but just sitting under the reception threshold of your TV or boxes tuner, a signal check whilst on the blank screen proving this point.

ive had a few people ring me with this and to get round the problem on some tv's ive had to go thro the menu to find "over the air updates" or "new signal message" and turn this OFF as it seems to rescan in standby mode and the tv returns to wrong channels stored.
this means any proper updates will not be auto updated and a manuel tune every time there is a change !
this seems to be a problem for people on waltham in an area where belmont is strong ?

jb38 - thanks for your comment; I'm a complete layman at this so apologies for any incorrect names/terms used! The roof aerial connects into an SLx4B 4way aerial amplifier integrated bypass device. 4 co-axial cables feed the signal to various areas of the property, not all of which have TVs connected. If those co-axial cables were to be disconnected, would this help to boost the signal to the 'faulty' TV/Blu-Ray ? Thanks for your time in helping me sort this out, much appreciated.

I live in pe 9 on the edge of Stamford and have a clear view of Waltham with no obstructions in between.We get max signal strength and quality from Waltham and Belmont . Have a Panasonic tv and Panasonic dvd/hdd recorder. Over the last few days we are unable to view/record via the dvd' s epg except on hd channels. The tv is fine ! Very frustrating but I think it's reception issue rather than equipment. Any observations/ suggestions gratefully received ! Thank you.
