Ilive in upholland WN80EP. Two days ago I updated my Sony Bravia digital signal per "digital auto tuning" and whilst I now have 161 services I am unable to receive BBC Northwest. Instead I am receiving BBC North ie Yorkshire. How can I correct this please

sass: Emley Moor (Yorkshire) uses lower channels than Winter Hill. Start the automatic tuning scan with the aerial unplugged and plug in about 60%.

I have a Humax PVR 9150T and it cuts some programmes off before they are due to end. It does this every night during news at ten on bbc1.It can also cut off other programme before their due time.My dealer tells me that this is not the fault of the recorder,but the transmitter which switches the signal which tells the rcorder to record,off early.THIS IS MOST FRUSTRATING.
Can anything be done about this?

John Ovenden: A Humax allows you to manually add up to 5 minutes to the end time of any programme being recorded by pressing "menu", then press OK on the top icon of the five seen running down the left hand side of the screen, followed by scrolling down to the bottom of the list and pressing on "recording end time".
The point to remember being that this action will take the recording mode out of being fully automatic in operation, albeit under normal circumstances this is neither here nor there.

Basically I have absolutely no reason to give adverse comment or to complain since I enjoy Freeview transmission on my pc with the aid of a very simple indoor aerial. After Yesterday channel and a few others were increased in power about two years ago everything became just perfect . . . until the recent changes in channel numbers came about. Now I find that with the same humble equipment that all of those channels associated with ARQB have become unwatchable. Sorry if I seem ungrateful but this is how it appears to be. Is there a fundamental reason for those under ARQB have becoming icky? Yours faithfully WN4 8LG

Charlie: As Winter Hill is indicated as being your main station you should carry out a signal check on ArqB (e.g: Yesterday-19) to make sure that the mux channel associated with the signal strength reading is Ch55 and not Ch48, the latter being ArqB from Emley Moor.
My reason for suggesting that this check be carried out is because Emley Moor is also indicated as being receivable at your location, albeit with the commercial channels with the status of poor, but "if" any automatic retunes have been carried out by your equipment Emleys ArqB which operates on a lower channel number could have been picked during a scan, as scanning starts from Ch21 running upwards towards Ch69 locking onto any channel with a high enough signal level.
This of course might not be the cause, but its a possibility that has to be eliminated.

jb38: Thanks for your information. On my little receiver, a WinTV Nova stick (am I being too ambitious?) there does not appear to be a facility for a signal check. The peculiar thing about this is that all of the channels which have now become unwatchable show a frequency 746,000 MHz. Is there any significance in this? It seems quite a coincidence in my lay thinking. Any further suggestions? Would be much appreciated. Kind regards

Charlie: I think that your reference to "ambitious" is most certainly the case, although not so much concerning the Nova stick but more your use of a simple indoor aerial, as judging by a serious impediment to reception that I can see (even to a roof mounted aerial) namely the dense range of trees smack in line with Winter Hills signal path, it being 30 degrees from you @ 11 miles its a wonder that you can get anything with what you are using, therefore in the interests of reliability of reception I would really advise you to use a standard loft mounted aerial, a DM log periodic type being ideal for this purpose.
