CHRIS: If not already having done so you should carry out a "factory reset" on your TV's before carrying out an auto-tune, this also being called "default setting" or "first time installation" dependant on the brand of TV involved, because at just under 7 miles from a 100Kw station and with an "apparently" clear line of sight (excl man made objects) from the transmitter you should not be having any problems.

I live at postcode M43 7LA and my LG tv does not get enough signal strength to display channel 50 BBC channels. I emailed LG and the reply is below.

Dear David,

Thank you for your email.

unfortunately there are issues occurring that are beyond our control with regards to the BBC channel package, which should be rectified shortly.there are a number of digital retune events happening and some UHF channels are being cleared, which explains why you cannot find BBC!

Unfortunately the advice I can offer extends as far as asking you to be patient in this frustrating time as we hope to see a resolution fairly quickly!

If the information I have provided does not help you or if you have any further questions please email again or contact our Customer Service Team again on 0844 8475454 or via the Web Chat facility on our website and we will endeavour to do our best to resolve your query.

Kind regards,
Tom

A bit on the vague side? I doubt if getting an 'aerial man' will resolve the problem. I could buy an external freeview box, but feel aggrieved spending money over this as it was all working perfectly before the retune.

David H: Before you consider buying a Freeview box, is it possible to borrow one and then observe how the signal strength compares between the muxes? - that is assuming you are able to tune them all in! If C50 is found to be low on strength or poor quality it might be an aerial problem, but in the first instance do routine checks on cables and connectors, then check for interference from a VCR or Sky box RF modulator which could be set to a previously unused frequency arround C48 to C51. Also check for interference from HDMI cables if you have any, which could be picked up by the aerial fly lead. Also if your signal is amplified it could actually now be too strong.

KMJ: Thanks for your reply. The television in our bedroom retuned okay and has good picture quality on BBC. This TV uses an external Freeview box and is using the same rooftop aerial as the main TV. The aerial itself was replaced and repositioned last summer as nearby trees were causing some problems. I have just tried this box on the LG tv and it still can't receive BBC so now I haven't got any more ideas! Oh yeh - no HDMI cables or Sky box. There is a DVD plugged in via SCART and a Wii via composite.

Thanks to those who pointed out that some communal aerial systems would need re-configuring. Had our block's done this morning, and all channels now back.

I have had problems with "NO SIGNAL" and continuous pixelated picture since about the 10th of April 2013.
I have spoke with many people in my area
BL8 4DR who are having the same problem. I have done all the necessary tuning and an inspection of my Ant.
Just the same.
Is this a fault on Winter Hill transmitter?
