Hi hope someone can help us.
our freeview tv started playing up a week or two before the winterhill retune (we live in bl6/horwich). since then our tv will only pick up some of the channels and they are totally unwatchable.
we went out and got a new bigger wide band arial. This has improved things slightly but we still have no BBC and most of the channels are still very blocky.
we have tried retuneing/turning off & retuning/ manual tuneing again/ factory reset ect several times but this has not cured the problem either.
when we go through the manual retune we have a strong signal(80%) but the signal quality is very poor (0-10%) it also drops in and out a lot.
we have even got a spear tv down (was goin to put it in the kids room but maybe not now) to try and that tv will not even pick anything at all.
we have asked several people near us if they to have had a problem but they all say its been ok but they all have sky/virgin.
Do we need to get a filter or something. Our tv is only 18months old and cant really afford to get another one or sky..
Any advise you could give us would be helpful. Thanks.

Hi. Is there any indication when the Winter Hill transmitter engineering will be finished? My HD channels (on PSB3 BBCB - C54 - 737.8MHz) seem to be the only ones suffering. The signal strength and quality bars on the TV's tuning menu for that frequency are going up and down like a yo yo most of the day!
I live in Congleton - post code CW12 1SA.
Thanks for any help on this matter.
Ian.

sylvia stec: The work lasted a few hours, and was completed in the early hours of April 10th, so yes they are fobbing you off. Also, only BBC and channels like Dave/Sky News changed their frequencies.

sylvia stec: This appears to be an isse with the aerial system for which the party responsible is who you need to contact.
As Michael says the changeover happened within a few hours on 10th April.

Phil C Chester: jb38 apologies for lack of communication due to severe dose of the lurgy followed by sciatica. Further apologies for in effect wasting your time. During my period of enforced inaction I gave serious thought to the matter and decided to call in the local aerial man. He sorted it in minutes. Not realising the significance of it, I failed to tell you that I have two aerials on a common down lead and in the box where they join together there is a filter unit. This it appears was reducing the signal for channel 50. I don't know why but no doubt you will. Many thanks for your efforts.

I have a modern TV which provides high definition reception on BBC's 1 & 2, ITV and Channel 4. It's only just recently that when looking in the newspapers' TV page I find that certain programmes on Channel 5 are indicated as 'HD'. It appears that my new TV in not capable of 'pulling in' this further HD channel. Or is it something I'm doing wrong? Suggestions would be most welcome.
