i have an alba recording box and for the past 2 days its been turning itself off and restarting at least once every half hour anybody any idea why?

Thanks all. I have Samsung HD TV with . I get all the other chanells. I have done manual on ch 54 but not find any . So beats me. Any ideas?

My Sony RDR-HXD870 has frozen and all I get is the word UPDATE on the display. Beyond that, nothing. If I switch the machine off it automatically switches itself back on again and immediately cycles to UPDATE again. I have a DVD in the tray but cannot get it out. When I called a Sony Centre I was told to unplug the machine and immediately after switching on again to press the EJECT button. This did not open the DVD tray. The machine is refusing to do anything but show me the now hated word UPDATE. Frankly I'm angry that SONY have shoved out some sort of update without ensuring that is would not cause widespread chaos.

Chris: Press and hold the /Standby button on the machine for about 5 seconds to get it out of the Update state (there is no need to power it off at the ).

My Sony box went a little haywire last night, has been fine all day apart from the menu page changing colour but has had for the last three hours. Nothing has worked and at one point it wouldn't even turn on although this does seem to have fixed itself. I have given up staring at a blank screen for now.

I am in Kent.

It is Sunday at 6.50am and still my two Sony players HXD 890 are only showing "Update" and it seems impossible to change that. When is going to make some correction to right this problem? Or isn't Wintr Hill able to do that?

Don't think its - my Sony box died sometime yesterday and I'm here in the Scottish Borders. Tried holding the button but it then just reverts to update. Tried setting up from scratch no joy with that either. This happened a couple of months ago too.

If you have no satellite signal, see Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' or 'Technical fault'

If you have other problems, please provide a full (not partial) postcode (or preferably enter it in box at the top right) and indicate where if aerial is on the roof, in the loft or elsewhere.
