A SAUDERS: Good Morning, A SAUDERS. As you may know, the Weymouth transmitter is a 'Freeview Lite' transmitter, and as such will only ever carry the public service broadcasting (PSB) multiplexes and not the commercial (COM) multiplexes. It is not economically viable for broadcasters to even bother to approach Ofcom to request for any changes to the 'Freeview Lite' arrangements because these transmitters serve such a small proportion of the population as a whole. The only 'Freeview' way to be able to view the full set of channels available is to be able to receive one of the 30 Full Freeview transmitters which transmit the COM7 & COM8 multiplexes. There are another 50 so-called 'Full Freeview' transmitters that are not really 'full Freeview' because they don't carry COM7 & COM 8. For some viewers, it is impossible to receive a GENUINE 'full Freeview' transmitter even with a very tall aerial pole, a high gain aerial and signal amplifiers, because whatever measures they take, they are simply out of range of one of these 30 transmitters or there are terrain issues that prevent reception. For some viewers, however, a more sophisticated and EXPENSIVE reception installation is technically feasible and for such viewers, they consider it to be a worthwhile investment in order to receive additional channels. Richard, Norwich.

Can anyone confirm that the Wyke (Weymouth) transmitter is down? The website says works are due on the 7th December, but nothing for Dec 9.
