Joe Boyce: No! as Sky effectively still retain control of the recording side of the equipment and will disable it as soon as you cancel the contract, that is unless you start paying a £10.00 per month subscription fee to Sky for the dubious privilege of them allowing you to record whatever.

After having watched "Catherine Cooksons A Dinner of Herbs" on friday morning the 30th december we were dismayed to watch the same episode back to back and wondered why the series was not played out to a final, it was on the "Yesterday" channel and we were most upset at not seeing the story played out to a final, could you please explain why and also advise as to when we can expect to watch the final episode.

Hi,
I've recently moved onto a new flat and it has a aerial point in the front room and one in the bedroom. I can receive picture in the front room but not in the bedroom. I believe it's wired for sky ( though I dont use this ) and the main aerial point has a triax outlet link adapter. I'm not sure how this works but if I plug the adapter in I then cant get pictures in the front room ?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Unless there are planned changes with BBC FM services which are independent of the TV switchover, then the answer is no.
From what I can see (I don't know the area), you're in a valley and Newhaven is downstream. This probably explains the issues you have with reception.
The FM coverage map for Newhaven transmitter shows that Lewes is as far north as the signal is expected to serve:
mb21 - Transmitter Information - Newhaven
The only thing that will happen once digital switchover is completed is that BBC national radio stations will be broadcast on Freeview in all areas. So, depending on how you listen, you might be able to listen to the radio using a Freeview set-top box. They often have phono sockets out for sound, so you can listen without the need for the TV being on.

Can i use a satelite splitter from the existing dish to another freesat television eg. dish to sky connected and running perfectly now, I would like to split the satelite cable leaving the existing sky box and connect to a new freesat television.
having read many questions/answers it says it wont work! however can you advise, why do they sale this device?

Steve Hole I've no idea why they sell these splitters but satellite receivers control the polarity of the LNB to suit the channel you are watching so connecting two receivers to a single LNB won't work. What you need is a twin LNB (or a quad LNB if your existing Sky set up uses a twin) so you can run a separate cable to the freesat tv which will allow it to switch the polarity independently.

I have a sky + box. I'm getting freesat soon. How easy is freest installed. I have a recording on sky plus box how do I copy this as I will loose it when I stop sky subscription?

Karen: Freesat installation doesn't really involve anything more than simply unscrewing the "F" connectors on the Sky+ box and transferring the lead from the dish over to the similar socket on the Freesat device you are purchasing.
If you are purchasing a Freesat receiver rather than a PVR (Freesat equivalent of Sky+) then you can use one dish lead for Freesat and the other for the ex-Sky+ box, as when its no longer a recording device you do not require two inputs, if though you don't want to do that straight away just leave one of the leads not connected to anything as they are electrically independent of each other.
If though you intend to purchase a Freesat PVR then it will require two inputs (just like the ex-Sky+ box) and so you will require another input from the dish if you want to use the Sky box in another room, the extra lead (only lead) "might" be possible if the dish was originally fitted with a quad LNB and it has two spare outputs, otherwise the LNB will require to be changed over for a quad version, these available for around £10.00 from numerous e-bay outlets.
As far as your recordings are concerned, you will have no option but to transfer them (in real time) into an old DVD or VCR recorder, because as you realise the recorder will cease to operate as soon as you cancel the Sky subscription as Sky retains control of that side of the device.

I recently knocked a couple of aerials out for our booster box when I was putting the hoover away. I lost all tv signal in our house! I plugged the cables back in and now don't have any signal on our tv upstairs, despite re-scanning the tv numerous times, but do in our lounge...? Have checked the cables and none are broken or damaged. Any suggestions?
