Barlby, North Yorkshire. Having trouble tuning for Now 80s. I picked up the channel on 754MHz, but I can't get a picture or sound, and I can sometimes get something when fiddling with the aerial cable.

I have perfect reception with the TV in a different room and was receiving NOW 80s fine until they went and changed the TV signals for my area.

Without a full postcode we can't see what the predicted reception (of the COM8 multiplex in particular) is at your location. With the change in UHF channel at the retune for Emley Moor on the 23rd you may not get it as well as before BUT it sounds more like you have a problem with cables or coax connectors in the other room.
Check all you coax plugs, connections, flyleads etc, unplug connectors check for corrosion or other problems and reconnect them. See what signal strengths and quality you are getting for the multiplexes shown in your TV's tuning section. Also check that your downlead looks undamaged and that your aerial seems intact and pointing in the correct direction.
Problematic connections, water ingress etc. can seem to affect reception of just an individual or several multiplexes.

Yeah, I think it is more to do with cables. In the kitchen it works fine but in the lounge it doesn't. I have tried using the kitchen TV in the lounge but I get the same issue. Is a 5x shielded co-ax better? Is the power cable interfering with it? When I play with the cable it sometimes briefly comes on but it's very unstable. I had it set up perfectly before they messed everything up on the 23rd.

For the record, every other channel is fine except NOW 80s and Forces TV. Are they both 754MHz channels?

Yes, NOW80s and Forces TV are both on the COM8 mux, but I'd expect you to be having issues with other channels on the mux see Channel listings | Freeview such as 5STAR+1 (LCN56), PBS America (LCN91) etc. As already mentioned problematic connections, water ingress etc. can seem to affect reception of just an individual or several multiplexes.
If the problem in the lounge is the same with a different flylead, I'd expect the problem to do with a bad connection in or at the wall outlet. It won't have anything to do with the mains lead or the amount of screening on the coax.
As far as the predicted reception goes, the DigitalUK checker About us | Freeview won't work with locations or partial postcodes.

Yes PBS America and Together TV also go down. It's back up and stable now though, don't really know what happened, I haven't even changed the aerial cable yet. It's a weird problem and only affects one room.
Thanks for your help anyway.

Well it's stopped working again. Is it the rain affecting the connection down to the TV in the lounge?

The answer to that is most likely yes, but not necessarily because of water ingress etc. which I assume you have thoroughly checked out and the other cables, flyleads etc.
Did you ever check your predicted reception. As you didn't provide a full postcode I can't check that for you, but if reception of COM8 at your location is "marginal" then rain may reduce the signal sufficiently that the losses in the circuit to the lounge may be sufficient to drop the signal below the "cliff edge" and so you can't get the channels.
Now since I last posted details, DigitalUK/Freeview have been "messing" with their websites (and IMHO have done a damned awful job) so to check your reception either provide a full postcode or you now need to proceed as follows -
Go to Freeview | All your favourite TV shows, all in one place and all for free scroll down the page to the box "Check Freeview at my home" and enter your postcode and house number/name. Scroll down the following page where available channels are shown in "tiles". Below the initial block there is a "down arrow" if not all are displayed. But if you are only interested in the one group, click on that button in the top row (PS. if it says 13 for the HD channels, you should get them all & that includes COM8). If you scroll down just after half way down the page, there is a button "Detailed view". If you click on that it will show the predicted reception of transmitters and multiplexes that may be receivable at your location.
