Terence Meehan: If you've lost service on any channels due to a recent frequency change and don't have satellite or cable then you should be eligible to have a replacement wideband aerial fitted free of charge, which can be arranged by contacting the Freeview Advice Line (see link below).

David Stevenson: If you are referring to the new BBC Scotland channel then yes, it will be broadcast from all Freeview transmitters that currently broadcast BBC One Scotland.

Hello,
Since 8th June 2019, I've been unable to pick up BBC4 HD (Channel 106) on any freeview equipment in the house. I have an HD enabled television (and dual HD tuner on the HDD recorder). No other channels have been affected and I can pick up the full range, as before. I have retuned each day (at different times) but to no avail. Does anyone know if the introduction of the new BBC Scotland HD channel has had an effect on signals, or if the Darvel Transmitter is no longer transmitting BBC4 HD? This is one of the channels I watch the most and the picture/sound quality of arts programmes aren't quite the same on the standard definition channel (82). I have relatives a few streets away who also suffer with a weak/no signal on 106, and also have to switch to ch82.
I would be much obliged if anyone has any information.
Thank you very much,
Gillian, Ayr, KA7 3JS

Gillian:
To get all tne channels from the Darvel transmitter, you need to use a wideband aerial. If you have not got one then you need to have one fitted as the older aerials will not get the COM7 or COM8 services. If you do n ot hace cable or satellite you should contact Freeview at Important changes to Freeview TV signals | Freeview They may well offer to fit a new aerial for you free of charge.

I live in Cumnock. Will I be able pick up the Darvel transmitter as long as I have an aerial.

Mark:
Possibly, but it may depend on your precise location. If you look at the coverage map at the top of the page, parts of Cumnock may not be covered due to the topography and you may only be able to get the Local Relay at Holmhead. To see what the Freeview Detailed Coverage Checker gives for the predicted reception at your location, we'll need a full postcode.

John McCallum : If you provide a full postcode we can check to see whether you might be able to receive more channels from another transmitter. The alternative is to look at getting Freesat, which gives you most of the same channels via free to air satellite (i.e. no subscription required).

John McCallum :
It's worth noting that quite a few modern TVs have a built-in satellite tuner, so all you need is a dish and LNB (even an old Sky one, as long as it isn't SkyQ which is not compatible).
