Two new channels five from October 15 and 16

Stand-up comedian Russell Kane will front the American (established and new) drama, comedy, films, sport and youth programming channel "five US" from Sunday 15 October 2006.
Mr Kane plays to packed houses and is nominated for the top comedy award at the Edinburgh festival this year. He will set the scene from viewers new to shows such as Conviction, Vanished, Shark and CSI from behind the scenes with news and gossip. He has fronted The World Comedy Tour, The World Stands Up and Edinburgh and Beyond.
Fives Nol Davis said today: "Russell Kane is both a unique comic talent and an empathetic interviewer. He will undertake a voyage to discover America afresh and illuminate what makes its people tick. This breakout from the normal confines of continuity will allow five US viewers to travel with us on a genuine road trip across the USA."
Following on the next day, Monday 16 October 2006, "Five Life" will broadcast from 6am to 11pm a daily female-focused schedule. The Ellen DeGeneres Show's daily comedy, games and music will complement the Antipodeans' acclaimed drama Love My Way, plus first-chance and omnibus versions of Home and Away.
Hoping from the success of his UKTV launches rather than his ITV Daytime line-up, Nick Thorogood has been hired by five as controller of these two new channels.
