This tool was inspired by...

Nation spending five times more than they think on subscriptions every year
Posted April 1, 2019 - Press Releases from Freeview

Study shows Brits think they spend an average of ?29 on monthly subscriptions - but we're actually paying ?149

While half the nation know that National Price Hike Day is looming, more than three quarters (78%) have no idea how much their subscriptions will go up by

Freeview shares free and pay-as-you go alternatives, which could allow an individual saving of more than ?1,500 per year

I remember when Channel 4 HD and All4 were dropped from FreeSat in February 2018 apparently due to the punitive carriage charges but I find it hard to believe that Channel 4, a public service broadcaster, couldn't have come to an amicable agreement with FreeSat.

The BBC, UKTV, Virgin Media 'crisis' was resolved in a matter of weeks although I don't know who caved in that instance.

@Felim Doyle It's wasn't the "punitive carriage charges", it was the Sky bunged them money to have 4HD as one of their exclusive channels.

Sky do this by providing broadcasters with special "EPG discount fees".

Briantist: What's your source for Sky having paid for Channel 4 HD to be exclusive? I follow various websites which cover TV/broadcasting news and haven't seen that reported anywhere else. All other websites have reported the loss of Channel 4 HD on Freesat as being down to Channel 4 refusing the pay the increased fee for listing their HD channel on the Freesat EPG (Freesat don't negotiate deals with individual broadcasters, all have to pay at the same rate if they want to be on the EPG).
