Channel 4 goes free for Freesat launch on 6th May

Say goodbye to your fSfS card? Channel 4 has appeared unencrypted on the Astra 2D satellite as Freesat (UK) prepares to launch the first week in May.

For many years, ( from Sky) viewers have needed to buy a 20 card from Sky to watch public service 4 and five.

Today the card is also needed for five US, five Life (soon to be Fiver) and Sky Three.

With the launch of Freesat (UK) it will be necessary for the public service channels to be transmitted unencrypted.

And it now seems that has appeared free to air on the 2D , on 42, just three weeks before the launch of Freesat (UK).
