TMF fined 80k for bad language
Ofcom finds TMF guilty for their "Ultimate 50 Videos" prorgamme "featured a music video by the band (sic) Aphex Twin called 'Windowlicker', broadcast on 24 June 2006 at 20:20. Four viewers complained about the repeated use of the words 'motherfu*ker', 'fu*k you' and 'fu*k'. They were concerned at the highly offensive nature of this language pre-watershed."
Ofcom continues "Separately twelve viewers complained about the broadcast on seven occasions on 24 July 2007 between 09:48 and 15:15 of a trailer for a factual entertainment programme called Totally Jodie Marsh which contained the following sentence: 'I just dont want you settling down with some fu*king w*nker from a modelling agency'.
MTV Networks also got fines for "Belgian Cat" (sic) programme for offensive comments (in French) on MTV France.
MTV UK and MTV Hits also allowed pre-watershed swearing.
For the record, Richard D. James records often pretentious electronic music as Aphex Twin (also Polygon Window); "Chat" is French for "cat", the programme was probably "Causerie Belge".
