Ofcom received 265 complaints, including a 176-page group complaint about their iconoclastic documentary The Great Global Warming Swindle.

Ofcom has found that the programme broke three parts of its code:

Rules 5.11 "due impartiality must be preserved on matters of major political controversy and major matters relating to current public policy)"; and

Rule 5.12 "in dealing with such major matters, an appropriately wide range of significant views must be included and given due weight in each programme or in clearly linked and timely programmes."

Rule 7.1 "If a programme alleges wrongdoing or incompetence or makes other significant allegations, those concerned should normally be given an appropriate and timely opportunity to respond."

The 7.1 ruling found in favour of Sir David King, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and Professor Carl Wunsch.

ITV2 also was censured (under rule 10.4) for allowing a broadcast of American Idol that contained a music video promoting Ford cars.
