The culture minister compares the usa for local tv the us has not got a dominant public broadcaster abetter comparison would be france which also has a dominant public broadcaster and local commercial tv is succesful we need local tv in the uk

david: The comparisons made were not specifically about the US market, it was just the rather pleasing election rhetoric of "Birmingham Alabama 8, Birmingham UK 1".
There are any number of comparisons that can be made around the EU.
