Scottish Television Network

Key people: Dr David Rushton (Institute of Local TV), service to comprise local stations serving cities and more remote areas.

"We strongly disagree with both Hunt and Shott that local city stations should be first. They already have superfast broadband, good services. It is places like the Highlands and islands who should be served first."

Element Television

Focusing on broadband and mobile distribution, as well as terrestrial TV. Management team includes Caroline Bailes (former From Manchester's Channel M).

City TV Broadcasting (Birmingham)

Key people: Debra Davis (former Birmingham city council), Jacques de Suze. Proposing local TV in a minimum of five cities across the UK.

The culture minister compares the usa for local tv the us has not got a dominant public broadcaster abetter comparison would be france which also has a dominant public broadcaster and local commercial tv is succesful we need local tv in the uk

david: The comparisons made were not specifically about the US market, it was just the rather pleasing election rhetoric of "Birmingham Alabama 8, Birmingham UK 1".

There are any number of comparisons that can be made around the EU.
