Craigkelly, Scotland switchover process starts today
This week sees the first stage of switchover for 451,600 homes in Edinburgh and East Central Scotland.
From 6am Wednesday 1st June 2011, you will need to retune your Freeview box or television set if you use the Craigkelly full service Freeview transmitter.
If you use the Aberfoyle, Cannongate HP, Grangemouth, Kinross, Newbattle, Penicuik and West Linton relay transmitters, from this date you will also be able to receive all the BBC Freeview services (except HD), and you will no longer be able to view BBC TWO on analogue.
You MAY find that old equipment will no longer work - see TVs and boxes that do not support the 8k-mode
On Wednesday 15th June 2011 will see the second stage of switchover, which provides the final Freeview configuration, including Freeview HD for all transmitters in this region.

I have retuned my Top Up TV box and BBC One is now number 846 on the Guide. Will it remain so or will the second retune give me the old order back again with BBC One as number 1?

Neville Wake: You will need to do a factory reset to clear the channel list of any memory of BBC1 on the old Mux1 frequency if that still remains in position 1. If you continue to get BBC1 stored in the 800s with a non working version in position 1 it will be because a weak signal from a distant transmitter is being found and stored during the scan in addition to the required signal. Doing a manual tune for the correct frequencies, after first clearing the channel list, restores channel storage in the correct LCN slots.

I have re-tuned TV and all channels are there apart from BBC - BBC1 and 2 and the other related BBC TV channels come up with message - "No Signal". Is this temporary - I live in Edinburgh ?

Retuned my el cheapo Sagem Freeview box and find I no longer receive BBC Three or BBC News properly on channels 7 and 80 respectively, though both are very vaguely there but badly broken up. I do get them fine on channels 800 and 801. I have done a factory reset as KMJ,Derby recommended to Neville Wake with exactly the same result.
I suspect I'm seeing a lot of transmitters. I have noted down the progress my box stops on while tuning, with the channel (it's too fast for me to get the MHz), the number of TV stations I have so far, and the 2K/8K mode as follows:
23 28 2
26 46 2
27 70 8
28 70 8
29 80 2
39 106 2
41 116 2
42 132 2
44 132 2
47 132 2
51 132 2
53 142 8
54 170 8
55 170 2
58 187 8
60 211 8
61 238 8
65 238 2
That's a heck of a lot more stops during tuning than it used to do, and some of them very close together. Is my aerial too sensitive for high power Freeview?

@ Cutting: the best I can suggest is to follow the switchover instructions here: My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound or the channel line up is wrong | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice or here: http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/how_do_i_switch/connections__and__retuning/retuning_instructions
or see if there are instructions for your particular TV here: Freeview Retune - list of manuals | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice (EH74EE)

Port Seton - I've lost all my BBC digital channels over the last few days. All my freeview can tune into is BBC Parliament. I thought this change over was to just get rid of analogue and not affect digital?

glb37: No, as per the article, this was the first stage of switchover, the second stage is on Wednesday 15th June 2011.
At switchover the frequencies used change, so you have to do a "first time installation" on each date.
