Are Sky to put BBC/Freeview on the satellite system, and when?
The BBC (and now ITV) is no longer be using Sky's subscription to encrypt the BBC channels.
The BBC (and now ITV) have moved their transmissions to a new satellite (in the same place in the sky) called Astra 2D. This targets the British Isles, so the BBC no longer needs to encrypt to protect its copyrights.
This means that in Ireland you will be able to receive ALL of the BBC channels. If these services will appear on the Irish EPG, we will have to wait to find out. Otherwise, you can add them by hand.
Which BBC regions are on satellite?
You can get a new free-to-view installation from Sky, by calling their hotline on 0870-606 1111. You will get a new dish, a new Digibox, a new free-to-view card and full installation.

Hi, just bought a tv/dvd (22" HDready 1080Led), which can be wall-mounted, only to find that I can't get BBC programmes. It is sited in the kitchen, so no co-axial aerial, but I do have a new, decent portable aerial.Any suggestions?

Alan Marsden: Chances are that you either have a fault in your aerial system somewhere (have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV?) or you're suffering from the effects of electrical interference (does the signal breakup co-inside with any sort of electrical device being switched on in your home or somewhere close by?).
