Can I use my ex-contract sky digital satellite receiver to get Freeview channels
Brian Butterworth published on UK Free TV You can get the following Freeview channels on with an ex-contract digital satellite receiver (once it is connected). Items marked with a star require either a Freesat from Sky (fSfS) card, or a expired Sky subscription card to view.

i have sky + hd box and after disputes with sky they minimised the channels i get from them so we are thinking of buying a freesat box from comet but been told that i need to change the LMB on the dish??? what is this and would i need to keep my sky box and do i need anything else from sky to get the freesat tv channels

erica: No, you don't need to change the LNB. Just power off the Sky+HD box, take out the satellite cables and the HDMI to the TV set, and then plug them into your new Freesat+HD box and off you go.
It takes less than five minutes to do.

Thanks for your reply Briantist. Would you know if it is possible to connect a freeway receiver to my iMac via USB in the same way the Eye TV DVB-T can?

Hi.
I've just moved in to a new property. I have an LCD tv with built in freeview. There's no aerial in the property but there is a sky dish on the wall with connection lead into the house. No box, previous owner took this with them.
How do i get freeview channels using the sky dish?
Many thanks.
Gary.

Gary - You won't - Freeview reuires an external aerial. You could opt for a "Freesat" receiver - available from most radio and tv outlets and some multiples Argos, Comet, John lewis, ets and connect to the existing dish cable feed to your propert. Otherwise subsctibe to SKY.
