Using a HUMAX satellite receiver to watch Italian TV, mainly RAI channels but t
I understand that the channels are scambelled or withdrawn from satellite because of copyright reasons.
Thanks for the reply, would you happen to know what method they us to scramble the signal? Because when I was in Italy I couldn't get a straight answer. They must be able to watch the channels in Italy so I asked and all they would say is that you need SKY! Which I am sure is not correct.
It is probably what is called 'soft scrambling' where a rights holder (in defiance of European Law) demands that a programme not be broadcast outside the territory, so a SkyItalia subscription card is required to watch, even if no subscription is payable.
Listing for RAI channels can be found RAI TV listings.

RAI 1,2,3 and News have moved to 10992GHz, Vertical, 27500, 2/3. Restrictions will presumably continue as before. See my previous posting above.

Sorry for appearing naive (I'm a bit of an old techno-phobe) but I need a bit of clarification. Does that mean that there is nothing I can do to get Rai 1, 2 & 3 for free like I used to? I can't just simply retune? (I have a Technomate 1000 receiver that allows me to get other free to air channels on Hotbird 13E).
Any help as to how to get those channels back would be appreciated as my dear old mum is already missing her programmes!!

Tony Riz: Just retune, your receiver should find the channels.

Briantist, you are a top, top man!!! Although I'd tried a scan for new channels of sorts earlier in the day without success, just did another more comprehensive one and finally found Rai 1,2 & 3 up in the 600's!!
Thank you so much. You've made my 81 year old Sicilian mum very happy again.

We have a digibox and use the Hotbird satellite (the digibox is a Televis brand can't recall model and is c. 2007). I tried retuning a couple of times and am getting the RAI 1,2,3 but at 10990 and not 10992GHz frequency so the signal is not very good. I tried do a manual update for 10992 but didn't get any where. Any thoughts Briantist or Michael?
Thanks
Martin
