John, Brian - A little correction - Philips owned from 1993 untill 1998 when they sold it off to a Bavarian Financial consortium, It never really pcked up and eventiually went into bankruptcy in 1993, selling of it's Satellite equipment division to Thompson. In 2004 Beko and Alba/Harvard group each picked up an equal 50/50 share of the brand rights. Since then Harvard Group sold their holding to Beko retaining brand usage in Europe until the end of 2010, but I understanding they still retain brand usage in Australasia until the end of 2012.

Brian;- Whilst many "Brands" are just that and some vompanies holdin brand rights set specs for their branded products almost alll are now produced in the far East particularly China. This company:- Shenzen Plute H.Tech co. Ltd in Guanqdong, Mainland China, are a manufacturing base for Technomate, Strong, AZBox, 500 and 600 series Dreambox recievers etc etc. Terrestrial products are also produced here. Likewise Another Chinese company maufactuers PC Mainboards for Dell, HP, etc and also turns out iPods.

Olga - Yes that should be OK subject to you having a suitable location and dish antenna size.

Frank- As Mazbar suggests. It's best to have your dish configured by a local installer as using a professional installation meter peaks both signal strength and picture quality levels. Such a meter can also check the efficiency of the cabling and LNB. It also has anything up to 64 satellites pre-programmed in amongst a host of other firmware and software installation aids. Actually three satellites parked within 1 degree of each other (that's still a fair distance apart at their parked orbit) are responsible for what you receive in transmissions to your dish antenna here. As Mazbar also points out other powerful satellites not quite so near can see basic meters when your setting up lock on to one of these. D.I.Y. installation is fine with a basic meter if your dish is at ground level and you can locate your digi-box and a small portable tV together where can check the signal and picture levels using these. Where your dish is on a building or at any height then you will really struggle.

Richard - Just what is the domestic rate in the country(s) you visited. A bar restaurant I frequent in Spain pays 60 Euros a month - My local village pub was paying 830 pounds pee month and couldn't continue to pay this out. They are now going down an alternative route still paying to do so from another European source. Running the gauntlet of course until a final European Courts decision to be made later this year.

Michael & others. Here we go again with -- Formula 1, with BSKYB getting the lions share and the BBC picking up what's left on the table.
As a UK O.A.P still paying a licence fee and with a reasonable fixed income I Like many more (and we do make up the largest demographic group - and growing rapidly - in this country). are unable to consider or maintain the ever increasing hike in subscriptions demanded by this commercial broadcasting "Cartel". Seems like the majority in this Country will continue to be "Shafted" over what's affordable by the minority.

Richard - the owner of the bar restaurant I frequent was telling me this past April, that the Spanish authorities have stepped back from any restrictive measures to clamp down there. You're not trying to tell me that SKY can't avail themselves of the Technology or the Legal means to take on the use of access outside the UK? It's a financial winner for them in free advertising of their product that impacts on the travelling public and acts as a potential subscriber catch on return to the UK.

James - It it's the F1 racing that's not featured on the BBC, RTL on Astra at 19degrees East should suffice. Mute the sound and take the BBC Radio 5 audio commentary.

cristian - If you can get Cbeebies it's possible the audio maybe in Polish. It's also possible that English audio maybe offered to and this should be able to be accessed via the receiver your using by pressing the Audio options on the remote. It's also possible that you may be able to pick this up from Astra at 28degrees East but would expect you may need a realy large dish antenna.
